About Thano Schoppel
I am a retired New York City teacher, and my wife is a retired nurse.
Thano Schoppel purchased this House in 1980
Why Thano Schoppel chose Killington
We bought the property when we started skiing at Killington in 1968, and built our house in 1979-80. We added the second floor in 2003 to make room for our growing family.
What makes this House unique
When we were thinking about what kind of vacation house we wanted, we made the decision to make the living areas as large as possible. The location of our house makes it possible to get to the slopes and area nightlife in a matter of minutes, and yet allows for the kind of peace and quiet that a condo can't compete with.

We had a lovely week!! Thano was very helpful!!
The property was just as described with lots of room for our group. The place was clean and comfortable with no issues. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a home away from home. Thanks for making our trip that much better. Mark
Location was great. Very private. Hot Tub was very clean. Plenty of space for all 5 of us. Would definately stay again.
Great House, Lacking Ammenities
This house is great for a large group! I recently visited with a group of 10 and it slept everyone very comfortably. It has an amazing hot tub and a great view out into the forest. Great location- Close to the mountain, close to the restaurants/bars, etc. Would definitely recommend.
Two things I would make note of :
- There are no "amenities" provided. This includes sheets, towels, toilet paper, paper towel, dishwashing detergent, dish soap, garbage bags, etc. So you need to bring EVERYTHING you could possibly need (it ended up that prior guests had left some items they did not finish using, but you really can't count on this). These VERY basic amenities are something you expect in a house rental, especially when you're paying this much, and it is really a burden to have to bring/buy these items for a weekend away.
- The driveway is steep. If your car does not have 4-wheel drive/ snow tires you will get stuck. There is an outcropping on the road level just before the house where we parked, but also ended up getting stuck there. It wasn't nearly as steep so we were able to push the car out, but something to definitely be weary of.
