About this property
Old stone house with garden up to the hill
Our village house is located 7km (5 min) from the city of Rethymnon in Armeni, en route to the southern sandy beaches of the island, namely Plakias, Damnoni, Preveli, Triopetra , Agios Paulos (just 20- 30 minutes away) .
The house was built during the early 20th century ( surface area 150 m2), and renovated during the 80s. It is located at the highest point of the village within tall oak trees and possesses a marvellous view. It is surrounded by a large garden with roses, lemon trees, walnut trees and vines. Inside it has high ceilings and a staircase connecting its two floors. The lower floor has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 sofa, a fireplace and a kitchen whereas in the upper floor has 2 sofas, 1 bed, 1 bathroom a fireplace and a balcony overlooking the area. The upper floor is suitable for having breakfast while enjoying the view. You can also enjoy the view of the surrounding hills while sitting at the large terrace of the lower floor.
In the basement there is a cellar with barrels of wine, olive oil and raki (local aperitif) which, by all means you can taste. .In front of the large wooden entrance of the house, there is a beautiful patio where you can have breakfast or dinner under a vine (with grapes hanging above you during summertime).
We are a married couple of a high school Physics teacher and a University of Crete member of staff.
The house is ideal for your Easter and Summer vacations when you can go swimming to the wonderful beaches of Crete. There is a supermarket, a pharmacy, a gas station, a splendid bakery with traditional types of bread and pastry as well as an award winning taverna in the village.
Nearst airport is Heraklion (or Chania), one hour drive distance.
We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have so do not hesitate to contact us.
