About this property

Cottage By The Sea is a small, semi-ocean front cottage, with wonderful ocean views.
It is located in South Nags Head, in a quiet, family-oriented cottage court. No businesses are allowed here on South Old Oregon Inlet Road, except the pier. The delightful sound of waves breaking on the beach is the background noise. A screened porch and sun-deck is on the oceanside for enjoying the sea and sun.
Cottage By The Sea is about 800 square feet in size, and sits on the dune-line at the seashore. Inside are juniper walls, central heat and air, and wireless internet. There are three bedrooms; the Captain's Room has a queen bed, twin bed, and half-bath; the 'Shell' bedroom with queen bed and child's bed; and the "Lighthouse" room has one queen bed. In the hallway is a full bath and high efficiency washer and dryer. The living room has a Lazy Boy recliner, cable tv with sports channels, and dvd player. The kitchen is well-equipped with dishes, cookware, and appliances. Underneath the cottage is room for parking and an outdoor shower with hot and cold running water. The cottage is elevated on the dune-line, but only 10 steps up. Near the steps is a park-style BBQ grill. On the cottage-court grounds are a sandy ocean-front beach, children's playground, and swimming pool, which guests are welcome to use in season. A paved bicycle path leads from the cottage court to Jeanette's Pier. No party groups please; this is a family-oriented setting.

More outfitted than the description.

The description made me think there wouldn’t be much. The only thing that wasn’t there was napkins and tissues. There was hand soap and bathroom towels and kitchen towels. Jackie, the host was responsive and kind.

Cozy cottage

We stayed at the cottage for a few days over spring break. The pictures are a tad deceiving as there is an entire house in your view from the deck until you look out the tiny corner to see the water view. The house is a bit outdated. No adult can use the bathroom inside the bedroom because you hit the wall accessing the toilet and anyone over 5ft tall doesn’t get washed too well in the shower because the shower head is so low. Didn’t use any pots,pans,oven, etc but they seemed ok..a bunch of mismatched stuff but seemed to work fine. we mostly ate out or brought food back. (Im on vacation, I don’t cook). Play area left much to be desired, was a bit old and decreped. Overall ok for a quick short getaway.

This beautiful home was immaculate with everything we needed. The kitchen was fully equipped. Half way down we realized we had forgotten our binoculars and there sitting on the bedroom dresser was a pair. Now that’s convenient!! Location was great with a beautiful view and just a few steps to the beach!! Thanks for a great, relaxing vacation.

My grandmother had a cottage near Jockey's Ridge, and I spent many childhood summers playing in the sand underneath it. The family sold it decades ago, and I had missed it ever since. So I was absolutely thrilled to get this little cottage by the sea, it is a joy to me. I hope that you enjoy it too!
