About this property

Note the pool is outdoor and is open from 13th May to 15th September. The villa is a historic farm house in the peaceful and beautiful Chio valley in southern Tuscany, only 20 mins drive from the medieval city of Cortona and 30 mins from Arezzo. The estate is changed little from medieval times and we occasionally find etruscan and roman artifacts in fields around the property. The house dates in part to the 16th century, and all modern modifications were completed true to traditional methods and materials. The house now has all modern comforts. The panoramic terrace (perfect for a sunset aperitivo), and pool are all yours for your stay. The views across the Chio and Chiana valleys are stunning and dotted with medieval towns such as Montalcino and Montepulciano. There are many excellent restaurants and shops in the local town, 5 minutes drive away. There are many walks and trails locally, as well as bicycle hire. There is wildlife in abundance. Our goal is always to offer a unique experience such that you will love the property and estate as much as we do. Note that we also have a small autonomous cottage, suitable for an additional couple, that can be booked for a small additional charge. Please ask for details if required.

Note that there is a single bed available on the mezzanine, if required for a 5th guest. This bed could be put in bedroom 2 if requested.

Beautiful villa in the Tuscan hills

We were five friends and had a lovely time at John and Barbara’s villa. The pool is spectacular, set on a hill overlooking the fields and nearby town. The house has a great kitchen to make home cooked meals. Italy was in a heatwave when we visited so the house was a bit hot without aircon but we didn’t mind too much. Overall we loved our stay and would happily return.

beautiful property in great location

the house is very well equipped. Both the kitchen and outside. plenty of umbrellas, sunbeds at the great pool and garden tables. The house was very well maintained and clean. The housekeepers John and Barbara were very friendly and helpful. We had a great week and highly recommend it.

A perfect place to unplug and unwind

The beautiful stone villa is located on a hillside about five minutes outside of town. The setting is brimming with history and offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and olive groves. We loved the character of the property and enjoyed the lush gardens surrounding the private pool and patio. Items to note from our stay include that wi-fi was very limited in the villa and laundry is shared, not located within the villa. These were not huge issues for us, but the lack of wi-fi was a minor inconvenience for our teenager. Guests should expect to unplug during their stay—swim, lounge, read, play games and watch the DVDs provided. My personal favourite was leisurely baths in the claw foot tub on the upper floor. Barbara and John were wonderful hosts and kindly provided several supplies upon our arrival to kick off our stay, including olive oil from their olive grove. Overall, this is your quintessential Tuscan escape from it all and we enjoyed it immensely.

This property is historic with some of the best views in Tuscany, particularly from the pool. It is a very special place indeed. The owners are on site for maintenance and care, and will give any advice you need, whilst being discreet at all times.
