Self catering. Sleeps 2. Set in the grounds of Penrhos Court. 3 story characterful cottage with reclaimed wooden cladding, wooden floors, high ceiling with exposed oak beams and far reaching countryside views. The Threshing Barn is set amongst the grounds of Penrhos Court, a magical grade 2 star listed, half timbered Manor House with parts dating back to 1280.
Once described by famous food critic AA Gil as "a breathtakingly beautiful small hotel, organically folded into some of the most pretty and fibrous country in England".
Since then, the former hotel wing has undergone extensive works to be transformed into 7 boutique self catering cottages and 1 B&B suite.
Penrhos has an incredible recent history and has played host to rock legends such as Led Zeppelin and Queen, and is credited with being one of the rehearsal studios for Bohemian Rhapsody.
Mike Oldfield, of Tubular Bells fame used to live locally and could be seen several times a week at Penrhos playing his guitar in exchange for wine in front of the large inglenook fireplace in what is now The Cattle Shed Cafe, our award winning on site eatery.
Former American presidents, have enjoyed the ambience of Penrhos, as has Sir Paul McCartney and the members of Monty Python who would turn up in support for their co-star, the late, great Terry Jones who opened the first of a new wave of micro breweries here back in the 1970's.

We (Mark and Laura) first happened across Penrhos Court, an ancient wobbly timbered building, completely by accident in 2015.
You see, we were en route to view another old pile over the border in Wales. I (Laura) turned around at the right (?) moment and saw the tiniest section of roof emerging from the trees and brambles.
It took 8 or so months of our trying to push the old gal out of our minds before we relented, after all she was being advertised as a house with some 20 or so bedrooms and Mark quite rightly questioned "What on earth would we do with all those rooms?!" (Although quite possibly not in such polite terms!)
However it was too late, we were under the Penrhos spell and by January 2016, the deal was done and she became ours.

After some head scratching and lots of trips to the architect, it was decided that the long threshing barn, which was set out as a hotel (hence all those bedrooms) would make wonderful self catering holiday cottages.

So here we are, after lots of knocking about, a little bit of poorly chosen but sometimes necessary language and many, many wines consumed we finally got there and now it's time for our guests to enjoy the fruits of our labour...
