About this property

Blue Heron Wildlife Sanctuary W/Cabin

This cabin, built in 1880, lies 1/2 mile from Lake Nockamixon. The property is astounding; filled with tremendous boulders dropped by glaciers. There are plenty of activities to enjoy in this area of Bucks County which is ninety minutes from New York City and one hour from Philadelphia. Kayaks and motorboats can be rented, sailboats and inflatables are available, or you can bring your own boat to launch. There's horseback riding, biking, hiking, enjoying quaint Quakertown or just "being" in this exquisite environment. Explore "The Lost River Canyon" which is just twenty minutes away in Hellertown.
The sits sits on 4 acres of wooded, secluded paths. It has 6 twin beds and a queen-size bed in the master bedroom. There are two bathrooms, one on each floor. The dining room table can accommodate eight. A heated/cool spa is offered for those so inclined to soak.

A single-car garage has been transformed into a Loft with a ping pong table, exercise equipment, Foosball table and a surfeit of sports equipment. There is a wood-burning stove for a warm and cozy atmosphere. The TV and VHS movie library is available. There is also a large sofa in the Loft.

Great peaceful location
Plenty of details about what the house has to offer. Quiet and rural and good jump off point to enjoy Bucks County. Easy ride to Turnpike.

What a wonderful spot
Property was fantastic. Lots of really cool boulders all over the property and more wildlife than I expected. The frogs were amazing and we even had turkeys very close by. The farmhouse was cozy as all get out and perfect for our group. Leslie was fantastic with communication and you can feel the love in the house. We will definitely be back for outdoor adventures and general merriment.

Sleeps eight
house was a bit small and dated. Sleeps eight comfortably. No sofas instead there are 2 twins. Fully stocked kitchen. There was a game room and plenty of outdoor games but poor light bulbs were out. Price per night was steep but group all chipped in. Overall good experience and may return.

Nockamixon Retreat
Fabulous family vacation destination. Be prepared for wake of turkey vultures or a kettle of hawk. Was that a ground hog or a woodchuck? Deer roaming the grounds. Pictures can not capture the truly tranquil atmosphere. If your going for cicadas, may need to wait for 17 yrs, but what an orchestra.

I was excited when I saw the property; it was a perfect match~ I love the outdoors and it was the perfect size for me to renovate this 3 room log cabin with 1 full bath into the 3 room and a second bathroom.. I enjoyed applying the necessary skills and am proud of my work. I love the outdoors so the property itself is amazing. I find a new sport every season here.

Why they chose this property

At first sight, I was amazed. The entrance to the land is guarded by two large cedar trees, the enormous boulders jutting up from the ground reminded me of the historical geography of the land. The prior residents cleared many paths through the woods and that was also a fascination to me. I felt the peace offered by the land as it is bordered by a Wildlife Sanctuary. Regardless of the season, there is a tranquility here that is awesome to experience.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location!!! It has been so convenient to visit my relatives in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia since I moved here. I have a sense of freedom and adventure here that is known by those who enjoy the vast and wonderful great outdoors.
When I first walked into this cabin I noticed the beams! What incredible workmanship in making this functional space a welcoming place to be!
