About this property
Ancient Mill in beautiful setting with private lake and rivers
Peaceful setting amongst lake, streams and trees, in the beautiful Perigord - Limousine National Park. Close to the large leisure lake at Saint Saud, close to Saint Jean de Cole and only 25 minutes to Brantome.
The main part of the Mill was originally built in 1153 along with a lake. Together they served the monks of the Peyrouse Abbey which was located next door. The Abbey served the local villages for centuries, but was finally abandoned just after the French Revolution. Fortunately for us, the Mill remained in tact and it continued to provide flour, bread and beer to the local community until just a few decades ago. Today, the Mill is surrounded by beautiful historic walks through the countryside of the Perigord-Limousine National Park.
Although the Mill dates back centuries, it has been tastefully been modernised to incorporate modern day comforts. Wi-fi is available throughout, and a large 55” smart TV provides many English and French TV channels together with Netflix and Prime.. Alexa is also available to stream unlimited music on demand, and there are a number of games provided for the family and children to play.
Outside there is a rowing boat and life jackets for enjoying the lake and the wonderful wildlife that lives all around. There are BBQ facilities available and plenty of areas to sit together and relax whilst enjoying the wonderful views.
