About this property

La Maison Des Fleurs

Nestled among the sunflower fields and vineyards in a beautiful French hamlet, La Maison des Fleurs is a stunning and spacious eighteenth century French country farmhouse hidden away in the heart of the peaceful and picturesque Charentes Maritimes region of Central Western France.

La Maison des Fleurs is a relaxing rural retreat where you can get away from it all and enjoy quality time with your friends and family. You will feel immediately feel the warm welcome in what guests describe as a home-away-from-home.

This farmhouse has been renovated with style, comfort and taste and will appeal to all ages, to those who wish to explore and be active and to those who wish to just unwind and relax.

Located in a fantastic region boasting Atlantic beaches, stunning islands, music festivals, Cognac distilleries and much more, you will not be disappointed with La Maison des Fleurs as your charming home.

Features:

The house is situated in a stunning hamlet in the midst of vineyards and farming land. In the summer the sunflowers appear in the surrounding fields and it really is a sight to see. With all amenities at your disposal you can really relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of day to day life.

You'll instantly feel at home in this clean, comfortable house. La Maison des Fleurs provides luxury quality towels, sheets, goose down blankets and pillows, all the amenities you need for a relaxing retreat. Most of the bedrooms are equipped with flat screen TVs with built in DVD players. Other amenities include Bose speakers both inside and outside the house, a games room on the first floor with pool table, wood burner and 40" TV and DVD player.

The house also has a wonderful bistro style kitchen that has been named Le Bistrot Pierre featuring a Miele dishwasher and Brittania cooking range. There are also Bose speakers and a CD player so you can play your choice of music whilst preparing food and congregating in the kitchen. Le Bistrot Pierre also has a fantastic enamel double log burning stove which heats up the whole house in the winter months. Next door to the kitchen is our house utility room which offers a large pantry, Smeg fridge freezer as well as a washing machine and microwave.

Above Le Bistrot Pierre is a mezzanine room which can be used as a bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and other elegant furniture.

The most relaxing room in the house is the Drawing room and which has been named this room the Edgar Degas Boudoir because of the fine collection of Dagas Art on the walls. This room also offers a Bose sound system, plasma screen TV/DVD as well as a large open Charantais style fireplace with log burner which is a lovely place to spend those long summer evenings.

Also on the ground floor is a stunning hall and family bathroom with a roll top bath. The house has 2 staircases. The first set of stairs leads to the mezzanine room above the kitchen and 2 other bedrooms and bathroom with shower.

The second set of stairs start from the Drawing room/Lounge and leads to 2 bedrooms - one twin and one double with a Jack and Jill style bathroom which can be accessed by both bedrooms. On this floor there is also a games room with pool table, leather L shaped sofa, 40inch TV and DVD player and log burner. Another great room to relax with friends or family with views across the sunflower fields.

There's also a hot tub, which was installed in 2018 and is a real treat!

Take advantage of some of the outdoor attractions:

- Screened deck
- Lean to sun shade
- Weber barbecue
- Half acre paddock, ideal for rounders, cricket and boules

Spend an afternoon curled up on one of the sun loungers with a good book in the beautiful private garden; or choose one of the many outdoor activities the area has to offer.

Location:

Located in the Cognac, Saintes and Saint Jean D'angely triangle, all no longer than a 30 minute drive away. Cognac has the world famous Remy Martin and Hennessy distilleries which offer tours from Spring through to Autumn.

The coast is a 40 minute drive away and the marvellous beaches of the west coast of France can be discovered. La Rochelle and Ile de Re are two fabulous places to visit no more than 1 hour from the house. The west coast is renowned for the abundance oysters and seafood and you will have a wonderful meal looking out to the sea with a lovely crisp glass of wine and Moules Frites!

If you want to go further afield you can drive over to the Medoc and tour the wine region and visit the wonderful Chateaus or have a day out in Bordeaux.
