This bespoke Shepherd’s hut welcomes you on an authentic stay in Yorkshire’s countryside, as well as being less than a 10 minute drive away from glorious golden beaches. You are in the perfect position to enjoy the best of the coast and country.. 5 steps to entrance.
All on the Ground Floor:
Open plan living space.
Living area: (No TV), Woodburner

Kitchen area: Gas Hob, Fridge
Bedroom: Double (4ft 6in) Bed
Shower Room: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Solar powered electricity, gas, bed linen and towels included. Initial fuel for wood burner for included. . Enclosed garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: The solar power system does not support 230v appliances. A mains power socket and fridge is accessible in the stable 525m away in the farmyard. Phones and iPads can still be charged through the USB sockets in the hut.. Situated in the village of Irton, The Shepherd’s Retreat is based on a working farm overlooking paddocks and grazing fields. You may well spot our resident barn owl, or some of the deer and hares, and may even spot a newborn lamb. All year round this is a beautiful destination. The Shepherds Retreat is fenced to include your own private garden area with an outdoor bath, fire pit and BBQ area. It is a beautiful place to sit out on an evening and relax. The Shepherd’s Retreat is a hand-crafted bespoke shepherd’s hut that maximises space inside with clever design and well thought out storage space! In the field next door, there are the ruins of a medieval Manor House dating back to the 15th century, privately owned by your hosts who encourage you to marvel at the history.
Irton is a Yorkshire village neighbouring Seamer village which is less than a 10-minute walk away, where you will find a welcoming local pub as well as a fish and chip shop and village shop. Scarborough is only 4 miles away, where guests can bask on the beach or paddle in the sea. There is a choice of two bays to explore; the South Bay has all the hustle and bustle of a traditional seaside resort, with donkeys, amusements and pleasure steamers. Whereas the North Bay is much quieter, with a long promenade to stroll along, with the Sea Life Centre perched on the end. Scarborough also has a 12th Century castle, which has breath taking views across the coastline, with many events around the year. There’s so much to offer including the famous Scarborough Spa, Peasholm Park with oriental gardens and boating lake, Alpamare water park, as well as one of the largest open-air theatres in Europe.
You also have the beautiful Cayton Bay within easy reach. Along the coast you have the coastal destinations of Bridlington, Filey, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Flamborough and Bempton to discover. Or inland you have the wonderful North York Moors to explore, with moorland and ancient woodlands with miles of walking and cycling trials.

Guests need to drive through 3 fields of livestock (horse, sheep, pigs etc) to get to the hut.There is stock fencing securing fields where there potentially are small gaps. The Shepherd's Retreat is next to the stock field within a few yards. Alongside being 100m away from a fenced field with sheep and horses. The working farm has an open driveway, There is not a gate to The Shepherd's Retreat.
