Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
Town: Rocester, a charming little settlement on the boundary of Derbyshire and Staffordshire, on a triangular plot of land between the Churnet and the Dove rivers. Domesday Book and Roman ruins at the site of a village that has been inhabited for centuries. The renowned JCB factory is located in Rocester, and the grounds of the factory and the neighbouring park have been beautifully landscaped to offer visitors with a pleasant place to stroll and see the unique sculptures that decorate the grounds. The Fossor is the most impressive of these because it is constructed entirely out of digger components and so serves as a potent symbol of JCB. To the north, Rocester marks the beginning of the Limestone Way, which continues on to Matlock, while to the south, Rocester marks the midpoint of the Staffordshire Way, which traverses the entire county. Alton Towers, a family-friendly theme park, is only a short drive away from Rocester, and the charming market town of Ashbourne is not far distant too. From Rocester, you may easily go to the Staffordshire or Derbyshire regions of the Peak District National Park, where you'll find ancient homes, market towns, moorland, rolling hills, and valleys.
