Take a leisurely meander of this market town, weave in and out of the Tudor buildings and visit farmers’ markets, antique shops and tea rooms. Pick up a small aperitif and step aboard a river cruise (season permitting) before catching a matinee at the Roses Theatre. If historic splendour is on the agenda, Tewkesbury is home to a 12th-century abbey, adorned with one of the highest Norman towers in the country, and the largest medieval re-enactment festival in Europe in July.
Just a short drive and you will be in the hub of the Cotswolds, and a day out to Chipping Campden is a must. You will find streets of honey-hued, chocolate box houses, boutique shops, pubs and restaurants, plus several castles nearby too.
For some outdoor action, there is sailing, paddle-boarding, climbing and even golf just a mile away. There are plenty of on and off road cycle routes and some family-friendly trails too. On those days where you want to just be at one with nature, take a trip to the nearby nature reserve, educational and fun for all the family. You will find Regency Cheltenham within 10 miles, great to visit for one of their cultural festivals or a flutter at the races. Stunning Sudeley and Eastnor castles, and Malvern are all within 15 miles.
