Outside the south facing tranquil garden is the perfect place to enjoy a night under the stars enjoying a drink after a day exploring the fantastic sites of Portland and the surrounding area. Mermaid Cottage is located off the road and has parking for two cars.
For anyone visiting Portland you will not want to miss a day exploring the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, one of the many fantastic parts of the Dorset coastline where you will find Portland Bill, a working lighthouse dating back to early 18th century. With many local attractions there is something for everyone. Steeped in history, Portland will give you the feeling that you will need to go back again to keep exploring. The views from the Olympic Rings sculpture which was created to celebrate the London 2012 summer Olympics which the Weymouth and Portland Sailing academy was host to the sailing events. The views stretch across the whole of Weymouth and Chesil Beach.
The property is within easy walking distance to Church Ope Cove, a small, secluded beach on the sheltered eastern side of the Isle of Portland, perfect for swimming or relaxing on the beach. Also, within easy walking distance of local shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways, and just a few minutes away is a local play area for sitting out and relaxing or enjoying a picnic. Water sports, sailing, swimming, canoeing, boating, fishing, horse riding and the scenic coastal walking are all available within easy walking/driving distance. If you are looking to venture further afield you can visit the historic county town of Dorchester, where you will find restaurants, pubs, shops, and museums. Poole Harbour is approximately a 45-minute drive, this is the second largest natural harbour in the world and home to the famous Brownsea Island where you need to keep an eye out for the red squirrel. Regular pleasure boat trips are offered around the harbour and to Brownsea Island. Beach ½ mile. Pub and restaurant 530 yards.
