About this property

Divine Georgian Townhouse in the heart of Bath

Summary:
THE CURATED PROPERTY COMPANY PRESENTS: Six Belvedere is a quirky wedge of a house sensitively converted back from a shop and fully refurbished to a high standard with quality appliances, period features a-plenty and comfort a priority. Though small in stature it packs a punch, boasting three comfortable bedrooms across its four storeys, a basement kitchen/diner, family bathroom and additional toilet facilities on the top floor. A private courtyard lies beyond the back door.

The Space:
Likely named for its commanding views across the city rooftops, Belvedere is a stretch of terraced Georgian townhouses on the lower slopes of Lansdown, on an elevated pavement set back from the road. The recessed front door opens into a welcoming wooden floored reception room, softened with a deep pile rug and cool contemporary paint scheme. The mid 19th Century shopfront’s floor-to-ceiling glazing and a further sash window by the glazed back door ensures excellent natural light across the day. Plantation shutters shut out the city come evening, allowing for a comfortable sprawl on the L-shaped 3-seater sofa where one can kick back to stream TV or enjoy drinks with friends.

Heading downstairs you’ll be surprised by the spaciousness of the open plan kitchen/dining room, with half the room dedicated to each function. Because of the glazed link to the converted vaults, light beams through during the day and it’s hard to believe this is a basement at all.

The kitchen has a contemporary utilitarian approach, emphasised by the simple lines of the galley styled units against a wall finished in brick-sized rectangular white tiles across its length. Appliances include a tall Smeg fridge, induction hob, electric cooker and a family sized dishwasher. Open shelves hold the usual assortment of plates and bowls with mugs hanging from hooks underneath, whilst the usual smaller appliances (kettle, toaster, etc) are on the wooden worktops or housed in cupboards.

A beautiful rustic wooden farmhouse table stands proud on a sisal rug to define the dining area. Comfortably seating 8 on the upholstered chairs this part of the room has period style crystal and brass wall sconces to add an extra touch of sophistication to your dinner party. Going through the glazed door beyond leads to the converted vaults which include a cosy study and a very useful large utility housing an 8kg washing machine and tumble dryer.

When your day of shopping, entertaining or dressing up as a Jane Austen character is over, upstairs on the first floor a spectacular master bedroom awaits in a room painted the coolest calmest of blues, with white plantation shutters and a decorative period fireplace. The king bed has premium quality 220 thread count Egyptian cotton bedding, ensuring you get some well-deserved rest.

Across the landing there’s the family bathroom, similarly blue and white themed, which has a separate glass encased shower and full-length bath. Seashell prints add a further nautical twist above the bath, and there’s plenty of room for a champagne bucket beside it for adding some extra romance. Fluffy towels and complementary toiletries come as standard, naturally.

Another floor up is the second king bedroom, painted in calming neutrals with rooftop views across Lansdown Road to the hills beyond and the comfort of 220 thread count Egyptian cotton bedding to fall asleep on. Across the landing, where there is a further toilet and washbasin, is the third bedroom, this time a double, with views of Christ Church at the back of the building.

Guest Access:
You have exclusive access to the whole house and the private courtyard and there are a couple of sets of keys to let you come and go as you please. You will be greeted on the day by a member of our team.

The Neighborhood:
Opposite this elegant four-storey Georgian house is Hedgemead Park, its sloping lawns seldom busy even in the height of summer, yet a convenient place to walk the dog or amuse the kids in the play area with its swings and climbing frame. It is an easy wander downhill into the heart of the city and depending on your route you might pass the Assembly Rooms, Royal Circus or through the artisan quarter of Walcot Street. Whichever way you turn you will be able to enjoy the excellent selection of High Street and independent shops, cafes, bars and the heady night life that has been part of the city’s allure for centuries. Bath also hosts regular festivals, including art, literature, music and theatre as well as being home to Bath Rugby. Popular attractions such as The Roman Baths, Victoria Art Gallery, Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Thermae Spa are all within a comfortable 15-minute stroll through the streets and alleys of TV’s Bridgerton. An excellent selection of free and paid guided walks, ghost, history and comedy tours, open-top bus and river boat trips are also available.

Getting Around:
Sadly we do not provide parking – if coming by car we recommend parking at Charlotte Street car park, or Southgate Car park which has electric charging points, or using the Lansdown Park & Ride scheme. There is limited on-street parking available nearby and throughout the city, payable per hour on the MiPermit app, and the property is in the Central Zone. Bath Spa train station, the Coach station, along with most of the city, is within 15 minutes walk from the property - a car is not needed if you intend to remain within the city centre. All shops, theatres, museums, restaurants and bars, parks and amenities are within easy walking distance from the house. Uber and local taxis are also available.
