About this property

Host & Stay | Rose Cottage

Summary:
Rose Cottage is a welcoming and homely single-story property located in the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Aldbrough St John, seven miles from Richmond. Perfect for those who like to explore the great outdoors, you’ll be ideally placed to enjoy walks, hikes and popular cycling routes. Sleeping up to four guests across two bedrooms, Rose Cottage is a comfortable base for small groups of friends and family stays.

The Space:
Rose Cottage has a spacious and bright living area. Perfect for unwinding with your loved ones, you can relax on the sofa or in one of the armchairs and turn on the Smart TV to keep up with your favourite shows.

Fully equipped for self-catering stays, the kitchen at Rose Cottage has everything you could need to prepare meals easily. Sharing the open plan space is a cosy dining area which includes a traditional wooden table and four matching dining chairs.

Ideal for families and small groups, there are two bedrooms on the ground floor at Rose Cottage. The master bedroom features a comfy double bed and the second room is a twin, however these can be merged into a double upon request. Both rooms have premium bed linens and plush bedding to ensure you have a blissful night’s sleep.

Clean and modern, the bathroom features a bathtub with an overhead shower, WC and wash basin.

Head outside and you’ll find a rear yard that also boasts an ‘out house’. Perfect for kicking back with a good book or enjoying an evening tipple, this space is a real added bonus to Rose Cottage.

For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

The Neighborhood:
Located in the beautiful North York Moors National Park, Aldbrough St John is a charming, peaceful village. Feel part of the community by visiting The Stanwick Arms where a range of drinks and a pleasant dining experience are on offer.

The village green is great for enjoying the fresh North Yorkshire air, or letting the kids keep themselves occupied at the play area.

Aldbrough St John is great for walking. There is a great river walk to Easby Abbey which is a free site to visit from English Heritage. Another beautiful walking area is Richmond Falls which when the weather is nice, we recommend having a picnic at The Batts.

Known as the jewel in the heart of North Yorkshire, Richmond is a market town with plenty of charm. Despite the many cafes, bistros, restaurants, pubs and bars, little has actually changed in Richmond throughout the centuries. There is plenty of history for you to discover. Enjoy a live show at The Georgian Theatre, which is actually the oldest theatre in Europe. Look out of the bedroom windows you’ll see the magnificent Richmond Castle. An interactive museum was recently added to the site so it’s definitely worth a visit!

This gorgeous Old Victorian Railway Station has been given a new lease of life with a mix of artisan shops, a cinema, an art gallery and a café bar. You can sample beer brewed in house from Richmond Brewing company. The café bar also won the best café in the Herriot Awards recently so you’re in for a real treat.

Getting Around:
The closest train station to Aldbrough St John can be found in Darlington. Darlington has great links to cities like Newcastle, Manchester and Edinburgh. A number of connecting routes can also be found from these stations so getting to other locations around the UK could not be easier.

Richmond also has great bus routes. The X26 and X27 travel from Darlington through to Colburn, with stops in Catterick. The scenic Dalesbus has routes to Ribblehead, Hawes and Bentham.

Interaction with Guests:
We’re always available for our guests so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
