About Laura at Hale Mar
Lifetime beach lovers!

Why Laura at Hale Mar chose Keaau
Gorgeous Hawaii oceanfront property surrounded by incredible natural beauty yet close to all modern conveniences and a great spot to base Big Island adventures.
What makes this house unique
Watching crashing surf salt spray, breaching whales and leaping dolphins, and the sun rising over the Pacific ocean, all from the master bedroom's king sized platform bed - or while having coffee on the private lanai - or from the hot tub - or from the living room - views everywhere! Accompanied by the soundtrack of ocean, birds, frogs, and nothing more. Note: we want you to be 100% happy with your stay, so here are some things you should know about to make sure Hale Mar is really right for you: No air conditioning: ocean breezes and ceiling fans keep Hale Mar cool. It's just not possible to air condition a big house unless everyone kept all the doors and windows shut, and nobody wants to does that in beautiful Hawaii! Although we live in a "sun belt", there may be rainy days or partial days. We wish we could make the weather perfect for each guest, but we're not in a desert. It's still beautiful when it rains, though, and the sun will dry things out fast as soon as it returns. Tropical vacations always entail the possibility of encountering some insects. You'll be glad to know we have remarkably few at Hale Mar! No giant spiders, no biting flies, few mosquitoes since we're right on the breezy ocean front. Best advice for avoiding creepy crawlers: put food away and dishes in dishwasher after meals, make your bed every morning, keep screen doors closed, turn off indoor lights when you go to bed, and put on bug spray if spending time in jungly areas. Finally, since Hale Mar is located RIGHT on the ocean front, we are constantly repainting, refurbishing and replacing items that get rusty from the salt air and spray. You will always see some rust spots here and there, but if you see anything that needs repair, please alert us - we will fix it during your stay if it is urgent, or add it to our To Do list for time between guests.
