Clean and cozy
Very clean. Cozy home in a quiet setting. It suited our needs for a family of 5. Having a washer and dryer was an added bonus. The only negative was the queen bed needs a new mattress.
The property is lovely and peaceful. It's location near trails and a park make in convenient for a weekend getaway when you don't want to spend a lot of time in a car. The cottage and linens were clean. Overall, a nice place for relaxing.
lovely countryside retreat.
A lovely property with everything we needed and more. Beautifully manicured grounds but with unspoiled wilderness totally surrounding it. The sounds at night are something else, it was wonderful to hear wildlife at night. We sat outside with the fire pit lit watching the bats flying round and listening to the tree frogs. In no way is the house overrun by wildlife thought it is very clean and tidy and super comfortable. Highly recommended.
My wife says 5 stars
Ideally located outside of the city for a peaceful vacation.
Only reason for a 4 is master bed needs a new mattress. Otherwise rest of the house was great.

About Mike (Irena and Jerzy's son)
I live in Pawling year-round, and enjoy the nature and small New England village feel of our beautiful location.
Mike (Irena and Jerzy's son) purchased this House in 2005
Why Mike (Irena and Jerzy's son) chose Pawling
Where else are you going to get off of a train from NYC, and walk to a house which connects to the Appalachian trail? While you do not need a bike to get to the house or the hiking trail, if you would like to tour the countryside, a car will be needed. Besides this section of the trail, you can visit Kent Falls, Bear Mtn., and many many nature parks in the area. Pawling Nature Preserve is a short walk on the AT from the house as well, and overlooks Quaker Lake.
What makes this House unique
The basement is great for a group of hikers with a lot of gear. You can drop your packs down there, and do all your laundry, while enjoying the house upstairs. The sun room in the back of the house is 3 season, and is large. It was not calculated in the living space when we listed this property. It also has furniture. The yard is surrounded by native hardwood forests. By and large, the largest unique benefit this property has is its proximity to NYC trains. If you have a bike, DO NOT FORGET to bring it, as you can hop on Metro North to the end of the line, and bike the new paved biking trail along the tracks. It is very scenic, and abounds with wildlife, as it is part of the "Great Swamp". Bring binoculars!
