About this property
Old Barn in Cascina on the Langa Astigiana among the badlands with pets allowed
The farmhouse equipped with an above-ground swimming pool for private use is located in the municipality of Merana, a small village in the heart of the Piedmont region. The property consists of an apartment for four people and is ideal for families and couples.
The apartment in the old barn has been recreated keeping the nature of the barn intact from the original architraves of the roof to the vaulted windows but has been equipped with all modern comforts.
The farmhouse is surrounded by meadows, trees and the famous badlands on which it is possible to experience routes with e-bikes to rent on site.
A few steps from the farmhouse runs a small stream, the Rio Vatti, also ideal for a refreshment for animal friends.
This place offers the possibility of breakfasts and lunches outdoors in the sun or under the pergolas.
The property located in the small village of Merana at the bottom of the valley bordering the Piana Crixia Natural Park, in the North West Piedmont region. Cascina Galli can be easily reached by car or train, we have a small train station in the town which is 3 km away.
The closest airports are Genoa and Turin, both about an hour from Merana.
Cascina Galli is located 30 minutes from the Ligurian Riviera and about an hour from the best Piedmontese ski resorts, offering a climate with varied seasons with hot Mediterranean summers and snow-filled Alpine winters. Spring brings mild days, when flowers and fruit trees come into bloom, while autumn offers a riot of color and signals the harvest of grapes from the region's many vineyards.
Merana is recognizable for its Medieval Tower which stands out on the San Fermo hill, also visible from the Acqui-Savona state road.
The Tower can be visited up to the top from which you can enjoy an unparalleled panorama.
The Big Bench was positioned at the foot of the Tower, part of a project born from the visionary mind of architect Chris Bangle to offer a different panorama seen from a giant-sized bench. The Lilac and Orange colored Merana bench was don
ated by us to the community in memory of our grandfather Adriano who passed away prematurely.
The Big Benches are scattered throughout the Piedmontese territory and mapped in a sort of map and equipped with a passport and stamp certifying the visit.
In the village we have a post office and a bar offering shop services while in the nearby town of Spigno Monferrato, a five minute drive from Merana, we can find an ATM, some food shops, a florist, newsagent and tobacconist and a hairdresser .
Acqui Terme 40 minutes from Merana, is a fascinating spa town already renowned in Roman times for its steaming waters, set like a rare jewel among vineyards and landscapes recognized in 2014 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for their breathtaking beauty, in the territory of 'Alto Monferrato, rich in environmental, landscape, artistic and food and wine suggestions.
The imposing remains of the Roman aqueduct that stand out along the course of the Bormida river demonstrate how water has always been the vital element of this city, which offers its visitors an enviable combination of art, culture, history and gastronomic excellence , charm and Italian hospitality that make it a unique and captivating destination.
The area is world famous for its selection of fine wines. These include Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera, Dolcetto and Moscato D'Asti.
There are many wineries that can be visited for tastings and horseback riding just a few steps from the Cascina.
The local cuisine is renowned throughout Italy and you could have possibility of tours with truffle hunters in the Merana area.
