About this property

Very Comfy Home Away From Home - 1 BR APT w/Full Kitchen, Near All Amenities

This is a large, clean, and comfortable 2nd floor 1- bedroom apartment with its own, large, well-equipped kitchen and its own private entrance. Close to New Haven, Bridgeport, Fairfield County. Ideal for couples or solo travelers and work professionals.

The apartment is bright and sunny, but has room darkening shades and curtains, when needed. It is equipped with all the conveniences of home to make your stay as comfortable and homey as possible.

Your Host and housemate (separate apartment on the premises) would be a mature schoolteacher who is accommodating and friendly, while respectful of guests' privacy.

This is its own unit, a 2nd-floor apartment in a quiet, 3-family house in a quiet, residential neighborhood of a small, walkable, livable city that's an easy 20-minute drive to Yale, New Haven, Waterbury, and Bridgeport.

This rental is ideally suited for travel professionals, medical students on clinical rotations, travel nurses, and other professionals on contract with local companies. I welcome longer term rentals. I do ask guests staying more than 2 weeks to sign a rental agreement that I provide prior to booking.

The unit has ample storage, is very close to the library, many grocery stores, banks, shopping, post office, Restaurant Row, and a train that connects to NYC and other points north and south -- all available within very easy walking or driving distance.

Parking is no problem and is free and easily available on the street right outside the house.

Pets are considered on a case by case basis, sometimes with an extra fee, to be arranged prior to booking.

Simply a great stay
Listing is accurate: nice neighborhood and spacious apartment that has everything one needs. Sarah is a great and communicative host, always willing to help or just simply have a conversation. As a bonus, she has a very special cat named Opi that loves making new friends. Don't hesitate to stay with Sarah, you will love it.

About the host

Host profile image
I'm a public high school teacher of at-risk youth, who also owns and manages a small rental real estate business. I also managed my family's VRBO vacation property in Maine for 10 years. I enjoy meeting new people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. I love to travel, particularly when it gives me a chance to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, or visit friends and family. I enjoy hiking, and camping, reading, gardening, and taking on new challenges. I am an easy, accommodating Host/housemate, (I live on the premises in a separate apartment) who is happy to socialize, or to leave my guests alone, as they wish.

Why they chose this property

This was our own apartment for many years before we moved to the downstairs unit in our 3-family, so it's geared for comfort and practicality. It's also pretty ideally located for anyone who has to get to local manufacturing, corporate or medical centers for work, such as Stratford, Fairfield, New Haven, Bridgeport, or Waterbury. There is ample shopping availability and restaurants in town and close by that offer indoor and outdoor dining and take out, as well as entertainment and cultural amenities in the surrounding area that make it very livable. We're also halfway between Boston and New York for anyone wishing to explore those cities. And we have a train line that connects to commuter trains into NYC or points east, or with Amtrak. Beaches, shoreline parks and towns, and Long Island Sound are within a very easy drive to the south, as are the state parks, foothills and mountains in the western part of the state. There are also nature preserves and state parks close by with many hiking and recreational activities.

What makes this property unique

It's a quiet, convenient, walkable, and livable area. It's also a nice, old Victorian house, and a comfortable apartment with some interesting character. This has been my family's home for 25 years, and we have renovated it over the years to a practical, modern standard that is definitely comfortable, if not luxurious by HGTV standards.
