About this property

Tucked away in northeast Tampa amid ancient oaks along the meandering Hillsborough River you will find your new temporary home.

An alcove bed with a pillowtop mattress, plenty of fluffy pillows (even a supportive tv pillow), and pima cotton linens are the highlights of the Waterfield room. So named, styled and modeled after Tampa's own Hillsborough River, you'll find the rich blue and green tones calming and the multitude of flora and fauna photos on the walls enchanting and amusing. Within your "womb within a room" you will find plenty of space for your laptop and phone on the multi-shelf headboard that also boasts a 2-socket electrical outlet and 2 USB ports. On the opposite end of the bed there is a built-in flat screen television with an Amazon Fire Stick to watch your favorite TV shows, movies, subscription services, music, photos, and games. Your bedroom also has a remote-controlled ceiling fan, a 75-year old secretary/dresser, and a vanity bar for all of your toiletries.

Across the hall is a shared bathroom that is always pristine clean and disinfected.

Two steps away from your room, you'll find the coffee and tea bar featuring over 30 varieties of teas and a thermos of rich, bold coffee. We feature our own Brazilian House Blend or a deep Espresso Roast coffee which is freshly ground daily. There is also a mini fridge to keep your drinks or food nearby and as well as a microwave.

We also offer use of your own full-sized refrigerator located in the garage, washer/dryer privileges, Verizon Fios WiFi and cable, space in our walk-in pantry for your food, and kitchen privileges that include use of all cookware, dishes, and utensils.

Please enjoy our private pool and patio or use our Weber gas or charcoal grills.

Our neighborhood is extremely SAFE, quiet and very friendly, conducive to biking, walking, and jogging. It runs along the Hillsborough River. It is within biking distance (2 miles) of University of South Florida, USF Sun Dome, H Lee Moffitt Cancer Institute, and James A Haley VA Hospital. Busch Gardens, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Tampa Greyhound Track, MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, and Ybor City are but a stone's throw away.

Just What I needed

Room was as advertised and home is in a convenient location. Owners where very nice and seemed to interact with guest as much or as little as you need. I just needed a place to sleep and shower while I looked for housing and this place was perfect and a very good price.

I absolutely loved my experience at this property. The hosts are extra accommodating, the property is lovely and charming. My room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Next time I’m in Tampa I will be staying here again. Felt very safe as a single female traveling alone.

I will definitely be back!

Bernie and Suejette are so friendly and accommodating. They made me feel right at home during my stay for a work trip. The coffee provided every morning and the evening meals I purchased that Sujette homemade were delicious. I definitely enjoyed a great nights rest after a long day working in the comfort of Bernie and Suejettes home.

We're Bernie and Suejette and we're so happy that you're reading about us.

We have a combined 70 years of living in Tampa though neither of us are originally from Florida. Bernie was born and raised in Peekskill, New York. He proudly served in the Viet Nam war and came back to become an accomplished musician and singer. He was a painter by trade which is quite evident when you experience the interior of our home. Today he is semi-retired and enjoys playing the guitar, composing music and singing. Everyone loves Bernie!

Suejette was raised in Atlanta and moved to Florida early in her life. She has a successful 30-year sales background in the computer industry. For the last 10 years she has thoroughly enjoyed her life playing hostess to people just like yourself.

Both Suejette and Bernie enjoy making the outdoors as enjoyable and fun as the interior of the house. They spend a great deal of time planting and digging and trimming and whacking and hedging and (it's never-ending!).

Why they chose this property

Back in 2000 when we were looking to purchase a home, our realtor took us to dozens of properties within a 30-mile radius for several months. We had 5 items on our criteria. Our new home was to have a fireplace, a pool, a 2-car garage, a large kitchen, and an established yard. Little did we know that the house for sale across the street from us was within our budget and it met all on our wish list! It was probably the easiest move that we had ever had.
