About this property
Phillishayes Cottage
Nestled in the heart of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape, Phillishayes Cottage is a charming thatched holiday home brimming with original character, countryside charm, and breathtaking rural views. This dog-friendly cottage in Devon offers the perfect escape for families or couples looking to unwind in nature, surrounded by rolling hills, wildflower meadows, and grazing farm animals.
Step inside this idyllic country cottage and discover a welcoming kitchen/dining area, fully equipped for your stay with an electric oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. The beautiful dining space is perfect for enjoying home-cooked meals, featuring a characterful inglenook fireplace that adds warmth and rustic charm.
The cosy sitting room is the heart of the home, complete with inviting sofas, a crackling wood-burning stove, and a television for relaxing evenings in. Whether you've spent the day exploring walking trails in the Blackdown Hills or visiting nearby market towns, this snug space is the perfect place to curl up with a book or glass of wine. A useful utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a family shower room with WC, complete the ground floor.
Upstairs, two charming and comfortable bedrooms await. Bedroom one features a luxurious 5' king-size bed and a private en-suite bathroom. Bedroom two is accessed via a narrow set of steps and boasts a 6' super-king bed that can be converted into twin singles on request, making it ideal for children or friends travelling together. (Please note, due to the nature of this historic property, some stairs are open tread and narrow, and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.)
Outside, the private garden is a true countryside haven. Relax beneath the trees with a book, enjoy al fresco dining at the bistro table, or simply take in the peaceful sounds of the countryside. The garden is full of seasonal delights, from plump grapes and juicy plums to strawberries, apples, redcurrants and blackcurrants – all ripe for picking. Beyond the garden, friendly farm animals quietly graze in the meadow, offering a true taste of rural life.
With its peaceful location, original features and easy access to scenic walks, dog-friendly days out, and local produce, Phillishayes Cottage is the ultimate Devon countryside retreat – perfect for romantic getaways, family holidays or a well-earned digital detox.
Additional Information:
