Owner Ghosted Us
The owner locked us out and was totally out of communication. We had to find somewhere else to stay at the last moment. The owner did not send us property access information before our trip . When we arrived in Italy from the US … still no access information. Then we stood on the street outside the property with our luggage. We could not get in. We were tired and dejected. The owner did not take our phone calls. We called VRBO from the street, and the owner ghosted VRBO too. Neighbors who knew the owner tried to call the owner on our behalf. Still no communication. The next day the owner claimed that the phones did not work. Even if that was true, the owner knew the date of our arrival. She should have sent access information at least in advance. If her phone did not work, then she knew her phone did not work. She should have had a plan to provide access. I don’t believe her phone did not work. I think she forgot about us. To the credit of VRBO, they cancelled the reservation and refunded our payment. They offered to rebook. Don’t stay with this owner. She is unreliable.
