About this property
Snelslow Barn - One Bedroom House, Sleeps 2
Offering underfloor heating and a comfortable interior with a stylish touch, this delightful cottage for two is an ideal base for lovers of the outdoor planning to explore the beautiful Peak District National Park. Set in the village of Peak Forest, it is close to a network of scenic walking trails, along with pretty villages such as Tideswell, the ‘Cathedral of the Peaks’, and Miller’s Dale (both within 5.5 miles). Below ground, Peak Cave (6 miles), deep inside a gorge beneath Peveril Castle, is said to be the largest natural cave entrance in the UK and illustrates the lost, subterranean world of Derbyshire lead miners. The splendid spa town of Buxton (5.5 miles) claims to have it all for every visitor, from the healing waters to strolling through wonderful ornamental grounds such as the 10-acre Pavilion Gardens, and enjoying a vibrant range of music, theatre and festivals. Enter what seems to be a small stone cottage to find a light, bright and spacious interior beneath a vaulted ceiling with beams and skylights. A staircase with glass panels on either side leads up to this delightful mezzanine floor, which houses a country-style wooden double bed. On the ground floor, with an open-plan living space, a short flight of original stone steps tucked behind the new staircase links past and present. Watch the Smart TV or make plans for tomorrow on comfortable seating that includes a sofa and chairs decked with bright cushions. Books, pictures and plants add a homely touch and windows offer garden views. At the other end of the room, the well-planned kitchen has all the would-be chef might need to rustle up tasty dinners for two at the pretty dining table. A swish bathroom, with a free-standing bath and a walk-in shower, completes the layout of this cosy country hideaway. Outside, the small garden is enclosed with stone walls and looks towards the open countryside.
