About this property
The Cottage - West Hall
Located within the grounds of the owners’ home, this stylish hideaway for two sits in a peaceful village just 4 miles drive from Hadrian’s Wall, or 1.3 miles if you prefer to walk. You’ll have scenic country walks and cycle routes right on your doorstep, making it an ideal base for exploring the great outdoors. History lovers will want to check out Lanercost Priory (4.5 miles), one of Cumbria’s best-preserved monastic sites, where you can admire soaring stone arches and fascinating monuments, including a touching terracotta effigy of an infant. Brampton (7 miles) is a charming market town, where the unique Moot Hall was built in 1817. The family-friendly Talkin Tarn Nature Reserve (8 miles), with tranquil waters, woodland trails, wildlife, and a tearoom, is perfect for relaxation. Keen walkers will love having both Northumberland National Park and the North Pennines within 8 miles. If you're in the mood for a city day out, Carlisle is 14.5 miles away
Step inside via the peaceful conservatory, which offers a delightful spot to kick off walking boots and sink into the sofas to take in the surrounding verdant views. Head deeper into the stone-built annexe and uncover a charming interior of exposed wooden beams and stone walls combined with calming decor and sumptuous furnishings. The social heart of the home is the tranquil lounge/diner, where chic colours blend with a roaring wood burner and Smart TV to offer the perfect spot for quiet movie nights together. When it comes to cooking up holiday feasts for two, find that the compact but well-appointed kitchen offers everything needed for a self-catered stay. A handy utility room is accessed from the kitchen. At the end of each busy day away, retire to the splendid king-size bedroom for a good night’s sleep, and start the next day with a soak in the well-equipped en-suite shower room
Step back through the conservatory to access the tranquil, unenclosed garden. Here, dine alfresco or sip evening tipples on the furnished patio, or unwind on the neat lawn space. Guests will also find parking for one car on the driveway, which is shared with the owners.
