Perfectly Located For a Quiet Weekend Getaway or the IronMan Triatholon
My wife and I have recently retired from a great business and team of colleagues that used to gather at our Barton house for work. I purchased the property in 2013 and have been restoring the house to its original character and upgrading its essentials ever since. We moved to Chattanooga in 1984; moved away for 8 years; and moved back to our favorite city in 2000. We have lived in many places and traveled extensively but enjoy nowhere as much as Chattanooga. It's nice to always come home to your favorite place on earth. When I'm not working on our home or bungalow, I enjoy hunting quail and other upland game with my great hunting partner--a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. My wife and I are involved in our church and she is the greatest host on earth and the "Queen of Southern Hospitality". We have two children and one cherished grandson who we love to be with whenever possible. Looking ahead, we look forward to some extended road trips out West to visit the great National Parks. We also enjoy the southern beaches along the Atlantic and enjoying nice cruises. We look forward to sharing our bungalow and city with all who choose to visit with us. We will do our best to offer the most enjoyable stay possible.
John purchased this Bungalow in 2013
Why John chose North Chattanooga
The property was purchased mainly for it's prime location and charm. The options of a beautiful stroll down along Riverview Drive or entertaining children at the corner park, or a quick drive to the Museum District or the Riverfront made the purchase of this property irresistible. You know the saying: "Location, Location, Location" But location isn't everything if you're not comfortable where your living. This bungalow offers so much open space and quiet insulation from city life. It's hard to believe the property is over 100 years old.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Besides the location and the nice, cozy spacious interior, one of the unique features of the property is the large level parking area that can easily accommodate 4 vehicles. The driveway leads to a safe entry and exit of the property at the end of Barton Ave where the speed limit is 25mph. A large secured deck which will be equipped with a 6 person dining table and lounge chairs will be available for use this Spring.

Great stay at bungalow on Barton
John's bungalow is in a great location--within walking distance to Vine Market Cafe where tasty sandwiches and desserts await. Would definitely stay here again.
Great House / Great Host
This was our second stay at the property... the location is great, the house is great and John is great!
Beautiful home in a nice area
We went for a girls trip. We had a wonderful time. The house was exactly as described. John was very kind and easy to work with for our reservation and our stay.
Just like Grandma's!
It was a warm and lovely place, beautifully constructed and updated with beautiful furnishings in keeping with its historical ambiance. The owner could not have been more supportive and responsive. It is definitely a 'not to miss' ! All six of us were most comfortable!!!!!
John is an excellent host. The house is very comfortable. There is a great restaurant easy walking distance from the house. There is a fun tavern walking distance from the house. There is also a park directly across the street. It is very close to Frazier Avenue and downtown. I highly recommend it.
Thanks Terrence for the good word. I'm glad you had a good time in Chattanooga. Please feel free to come back and stay with us anytime.
Girl's Weekend in Chattanooga
Exceptional in every category!
First: Location - the house has an excellent location on the North side of Chattanooga. We started every morning with a walk thru the Riverview area, passing the beautiful homes and Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. You can easily walk to Tremont Tavern or Vine Street Bakery. And, it's a quick and easy drive downtown.
Second: Ambiance - The vintage home has been remodeled so tastefully that it retains the charm of the original bungalow, but with all the modern conveniences. The decor is cozy and welcoming, even with some antiques. There is no plastic or "rental cheap" feel to the home. The deck off the kitchen and the table and chairs there provide a comfortable place to relax outside.
Third: Cleanliness - the house is VERY clean with ample products provided in the kitchen and bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable with upscale bedding including cotton blankets and crisp cotton sheets.
Fourth: Property Owner - John provided the info we needed in advance, replied quickly if we contacted him, and really wanted us to enjoy our stay.
Overall, the best experience us girls have had on one of our getaways!
