I was treated poorly by the property owner
For starters I made arrangements with property owner via rental application to stay at his property for several months. All the fees were paid and we checked in. Soon after the property owner sent an email attempting to charge for utilities! I contacted rental application company and they said I was not responsible for utilities, as this is an all inclusive rental. You do not go to a hotel and get charged for water and electrical. I communicated that to property owner via email and he was clearly not happy. I did not hear from him until about the last week or so when he sent me threatening messages of “having us thrown out” for not placing the garbage can inside the garage and a fine associated with association. I immediately called him and asked him why he was sending me messages such as this one and I told him that was not right, he proceeded to treat me in a disrespectful matter and said that was my opinion. My husband and I are both professionals, we basically used his home for sleeping since we work all day Monday-Friday and often traveled away on weekends, we stayed at his property awaiting the construction of our home... He was apparently notified of these violations with the garbage can from the beginning and choose not to tell me until they were attempting to fine him. A simple call, text or email would have sufficed and we would have corrected the situation and we would have placed the garage can in the appropriate location. I have used these companies for rentals in place of hotels many times as we travel frequently and have never experienced being treated so poorly by any home owner. We kept his home clean, and left it in the same condition that we found it in.
I am a grateful person and I am thankful for staying there, however he needs to know that it is not ok to attempt charging his guests extra fees that have never been discussed up front, and then mistreat me when any situation arises because he is upset that I did not pay those extra charges that I was not responsible for. The property was located in a great place, near to our jobs and my children’s school. If this entire situation had not taken place, I would have written a different review. However, I believe in honesty and transparency and I felt compelled to express my experience in this sincere review.
