About this property

A Unique Holiday Villa With Private Pool, Close To Beaches In A Rural Setting

The Villa is fully licensed with the local government agency in Vila Do Bispo. Our house is full of light and open spaces with large terraces on two levels. Surrounded by trees with a fabulous garden and long wooded lot (3,600 square meters), enjoy morning coffee and a late night glass of wine in the privacy of nature. We have a couples bedroom with en suite bath and an upstairs bedroom with twin beds and adjoining bath and shower. There is a living space upstairs that can accommodate sleeping for one person, a space for morning exercise or a play area of kids. The pool is large enough for lap swimming and there is a outdoor kitchen and grill. If possible, we prefer to rent weekend to weekend. You can view the property location and get a sense of its character on the map location function. UPDATE: The discotheque property which was about 100 meters from the house and only operated in August has been sold and will no longer be in operation! We are advised it will be redeveloped as a residential property at some time in the future. No more disco!

Leuk huis beetje gedateerd
Huis is in orde maar beetje gedateerd hier en daar. Uitrusting vd. keuken kan beter (bv. geen microgolf). Leuk groot zwembad. Rustig gelegen. Vlakbij centrum. 5e bedje was een bijzet, klein en harde matras. Leuk verblijf voor 4 personen.

Lovely villa
The villa was very light and airy and very clean and well equipped. We were looking for a week of total relaxation and that is what we experienced except on our first night where we had no sleep due to the noise from a disco approx 50m away. Thankfully it was only one night as the music started at midnight and finished at 7.30 in the morning. ( the owner had advised of a disco which ran from end of July through August ) The villa was within close proximity of restaurants and a large supermarket and also some lovely beaches. Sagres has a welcoming breeze in the heat of the day. Would definitely visit again.

Great house for a nice retreat
Beautiful house, very well maintained, has everything in the kitchen for cooking, very private garden. We weren’t bother by dogs barking like I had read from previous reviews. We barely heard the dogs one night at quite a distance. Not an issue at all. Since we rented in August, owner warned us of a nightclub opening in August only. But it was not an issue either. Would recommend the house for sure.

We are an American couple who have been coming to Sagres every year for 20 years. We worked and saved to buy or build a home. We bought this land in 2004 and built the house in 2009-2011. We stayed here for 2 1/2 years to landscape the property ourselves (a work in progress), add finishing touches and enjoy some time off from our adult responsibilities. We want to rent for part of the year and use for family the rest. We hope to rent to adults and families who will respect our special home and enjoy the lure of Sagres.

Why they chose this property

We think the location of our house is special. Most of Sagres does not have alot of trees or wooded plots. When we discovered this plot we fell in love with it because it had so much vegetation and was on edge of town. We come from rural America and loved the open spaces to the north and the fact that it is bordered by the Natural Park. We love it when the sheep herders bring their goats and sheep to graze on the adjoining proprty and up the hill. We can walk for hours in the park and forest without seeing anyone. At the same time, it is a 20 minute walk to the town center and the nearby beaches (for me 5 minutes by bike). The grocery store is just a 10 minute walk. UPDATE: Until September of 2019, there had been a discotheque about 100 meters from the house which only operated from late July through August. This property has now been sold. We are advised that it will be redeveloped into a residential property at some point in the future. The discotheque will no longer be operated!!

What makes this property unique

Our house is not secluded and completely private. We have neighbours, including an older couple who still live on a small farm plot. You can view it on the satellite mapping function (gps is 37° 1'11.23"N 8°56'37.15"W) . But for the most part this is somewhat unique in the Sagres area. It sits up on a hill with views over the village of Sagres toward the coast. Given the large wooded lot and our garden, it offers privacy and the comfort of nature. The night skies are black with brilliant stars and planets. Bring a guide to constellations.
