Authentic Umbrian Experience
This sheep farm in a spectacular setting was a unique part of our trip to Italy. The apartment is roomy and well set up, and in hot weather the pool is essential after days visiting Assisi and Gubbio. Our hosts were engaging and informative, having grown up in Finland and Italy. We chose to have them prepare breakfast and dinner for us each day, and were VERY glad we did. The meals were varied and balanced, and portions were generous. Our conversations with our hosts at the end of each meal added to our understanding of Italian politics and economics, and a wide range of other topics they were knowledgeable about. For understandable reasons, this property is not well groomed, but still functions well as a retreat. This property's location close to the trail between Gubbio and Assisi was an advantage for us as hikers.
Wonderful pool, lovely hosts, beautiful views
The pool here is in a brilliant location with a lovely breeze and fabulous views. It is clean and surrounding gardens planted with lavender rosemary and other Mediterranean plants. The owners had had trouble with sheep getting into pool area ( hence a previous poor review) but new fencing has fixed that. This is a farm. The area is lovely and the nearby restaurant in Monteverde recommended by the owners was fab and had gluten free options. The apartment was a little basic but fine and reasonably cool given the heatwave we have had. All sheets were cotton and clean and cool. The owners were helpful and washed clothes when asked and showed the children how to make cheese from sheeps milk. The family dogs were so friendly.
MANY THANKS FOR YOUR REVIEW, ARRIVEDERCI
The pictures are totally Different to the current condition.
We just saw the pool area and decided to leave the house immediately (i was travelling alone with two kids at the age of 5&7 years)
Excrement on the bottom of the pool
Trash all over (not just from the day before!)
Totally broken sunlounger
Spines on the floor (my son and I stepped into one)
The owner just speaks italian so i decided to leave without a word. After recharging my cell phone at a gas station I send him an E-Mail. His answer: the condition was perfect the day before.
Sorry, but there is a General Problem!!! Not a Problem of forgetting to clean in the morning.
Although the offered price was great I Can Not recommend the House!!!!
We are sorry for the inconvenience even if must be somehow exaggerated as the other guests who stayed during the same period didn't find all these negative conditions and sent actually a positive rewiev. (On the villainumbria website). We all speak very good English in the family. The lady who wrote this review speaks a very good Italian and thats why we used Italian with her. In addition we speak Finnish, some French, German, Swedish.

Perfect Umbrian holiday apartment
My partner and I stayed at Ca’Mazzetto in September 2011. The property is located on a working organic farm conveniently located within easy driving distance of Perugia and Assisi and although a car is essential in getting there, it is well worth the effort of hiring and driving as the farm is located in a beautiful spot in the picturesque Umbrian hillside. The apartment is simply furnished in a lovely arte povera style which suits the farm perfectly. The rooms are self catering, although you can choose to have dinner cooked prepared for you. A lot of the food produced at breakfast and dinner is sourced from the farm itself and the meals were simply divine. Relaxing by the pool overlooking the hills was a perfect way to unwind after hot days spent sightseeing in local areas. Marjatta and Pasquale are such lovely hosts and did everything to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. I can’t fault this accommodation, it is truly the perfect Italian farm stay holiday and I would be more than happy to recommend it to anyone and will definitely be returning to stay again myself.
Thank you so much for your review! Hope to see you here again, best regards, Marjatta and Pasquale
Hospitality, hiking and great food.
We were delighted with our stay in this beautifully situated farm. The apartment was spacious and well equipped for doing some of our own meals. A nearby town has a good grocery store so supplies are easily obtained if you are self catering.
Our hosts were most hospitable, and the dinners created for us were delicious, and accommodated my dietary needs as a celiac. What a treat to have home made pasta, stuffed with their own organic sheep cheese, and rolls baked especially for me.
The scenery is wonderful and the farm is very close to a well marked long distance trail which made for great hiking. While you need a car, the distances to Assisi and Gubbio are not far, so there is lots to see and do without spending a lot of time on the road.
Our host even provided laundry service for a very reasonable rate.
We would highly recommend this property.
Agriturismo Ca'Mazzetto is located on the top of hill in the heart of the historical area of Coccorano of Valfabbrica between Assisi, Gubbio ansd Perugia. We are situated along the Franciscan Peace Trail. The farm is an ideal starting point to visit the lovely medieval towns like Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Spoleto, Spello, Orvieto, Montefalco or Trasimeno Lake or the natural park of Monte Cucco. In couple of hours you can also reach Rome, Florence and Siena or beaches near Ancona. In Valfabbrica town (4 km) there are all the basic services. (shops, bank, pharmacy, post-office). The nearest small airport is only 20 kms from our farm. You can find also cheap flights to Ancona (1,5 hours by car), Rome (2,5 hours) and Pisa (3,5hours).
