Comfortable Home

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Is this the house we rented?

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house wasn’t anything like the house we rented. All the rooms were completely different than the photos, even the room configurations. The furniturnishings in the main areas were dirty and extremely tired. They need to be replaced. The lower level main area had random furniture that should have been hauled off (very large entertainment center with NO TV, large wall decor sitting on the floor, random junk table). The dining room only had seating for 8 with no overhead lighting. It was VERY dark. The kitchen had an extreme ant problem. The air conditioner could not keep up in the bedroom areas. The patio sliding door would not close or lock. The patio screen door was ripped and let bugs in. Patio furniture was mismatched and inadequate. The landscaping was ill kept and the yard had sand burs everywhere! You had to walk thru them because there wasn’t any sidewalk. It was CLEARLY the worst home in the neighborhood. The big complaint was there was NO pool for the young children!!! In SPITE of that were able to enjoy the one bright moment..the location to the beach! The ONE redeeming factor. I would not rent this again.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Shakedown Shack lived up to it's name... it was not clean when we arrived and even after a second attempt to clean it. Location is great and the new kitchen was appreciated. It lacks landscaping.

Great memories made!

Our family always enjoys the annual trip to the coast and this was no exception! We had a group of 13 with a wide age range - baby, little kids, young adults and up. The house is nice and has a good communal space. The 7th bedroom is actually a little offshoot from the laundry room with a tiny fold out couch so we had to improvise on sleeping arrangements- but not a huge deal. The main detractor with this rental property is the yard! Wouldn’t really mind because we were there for the beach but having to walk through a sandpit landmine of sand spurs on each trip to and from the beach put a damper on our experience - those spurs end up in the house and they hurt! It was a constant chore to remove them. Hopefully the property owners can remedy this by restoring the yard or putting in a walkway. We’ve been vacationing in South Carolina for 35 years and realize you can’t avoid natural nuisances but never have encountered a yard so filled with sand spurs. Other than that we found the house charming and the rental agency was very hospitable! We look forward to returning to the area!
