Charming Cottage on 35 Acres

Welcome to the Cottage at Oak & Hare Farms, where hosts Dustin and Erica will look forward to providing a hospitable experience for all. Their timeless farmhouse sits far enough away to offer all the privacy you could want, yet close enough to easily reach out should you need anything at all.

This charming cottage is situated on 35 beautiful, sprawling country acres. Experience farm life living first hand or simply sit back and take in the serene scenery. Located approximately 20 miles from Murfreesboro and 50 miles from the heart of Nashville, there could not be a more relaxing place to unwind and take in Tennessee’s stunning rolling hillsides. There are so many hidden gems nearby to explore!

The daybed/living room sofa on the ground level is a twin size mattress and can accommodate a third guest or anyone uncomfortable climbing the ladder. We do not encourage senior guests or those with young children as a safety precaution, provided the elevated loft. This property is not handicap accessible.

Another wonderful weekend!!
This is our second time for staying at this beautiful little house. The location is close to town but completely secluded. We spent almost the entire day sitting under the porch napping, enjoying the beautiful view and quiet location. Thank you again. We will be back.

Peace and Tranquility
Absolutely what I needed. The place is decorated perfect, has all your needs and a surrounding that gives you the opportunity To escape busy life and unwind. The owners are beyond accommodating. Stayed for my sons soccer in Murfreesboro and was so much better than staying in a hotel. We for sure will be back. My life is very busy, I had been sick prior and was coming up on 2 years to my dad passing. It wa exactly what I needed. Can not thank them enough.

About the host

Hosted by Erica Allen

Host profile image
Hosts Dustin and Erica met at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia, where they thoroughly enjoyed the wild and wonderful great outdoors. They got engaged in British Columbia and later wed in Lewisburg, West Virginia - rightfully voted one of the coolest small towns in America. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Greenville, South Carolina where they bought their first home and welcomed a baby girl into the world. Life has brought them to beautiful Cannon County, Tennessee, a place that they are already finding near and dear to their hearts. Why Oak & Hare Farms? Their daughter’s name is Eila, which means “Oak Tree” in Hebrew. Hare is symbolic hence the “Snowshoe Hare” where their story began.

Why they chose this property

What's not to love?! It's quiet and peaceful, wildlife is abundant and nature is all around you.

What makes this property unique

The property is home to 8 registered Babydoll Southdown lambs, which are all between the ages of 3 and 5 months old. Why Babydoll Southdown’s?

It goes without saying that they are the cutest things on the planet, but in addition to their adorable appearance, their small size makes them much easier to handle. The recent trend in agriculture toward smaller acreages gives them an important place in the new rural lifestyle.

Their temperament. Babydoll’s are sweet. They are peaceful, curious, intelligent and like to interact with each other and ‘their people.’ Being an animal that is prey rather than predator, they are shy around new situations and new people. Hand feeding is a good way to build trust. A zip lock bag of grain is provided to all guests should you wish to hand feed them!

Despite their small size and cuteness, Babydoll's are hardy. They are an ancient breed, and therefore, they are not prone to many of the problems associated with modern breeds. Their lifespan is 15-16 years.

Babydoll's offer one of the finest wools of all the British breeds. They are a great source of organic fertilizer and are commonly used with success in orchards, vineyards and berry farms as they will not harm the fruits, tree trunks or shrubs. They are fuel-efficient lawnmowers and high fencing is not necessary.
