Condo, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Tahoe in 1974 and we started renting homes in summer and winter. We soon realized it was time for us to purchase our own vacation home as our "getaway from L.A." . In 1978 we purchased an A-frame cabin and exchanged it for our condo in Bavarian Village in 1993. We have put our 'heart and soul' into making the "Ripke Retreat" just like home. Our latest addition is a new Master bedroom LCD HD 26" LG TV and new cellular blinds completing our picture window wall. We love the "extra touches like our 'cool' Limelite nite lights, car key hooks, and cable TV channel listing frames. We even installed an emergency 'power failure' light above the hallway entrance. You'll appreciate our hotel 'security safe' in our MB for securing your valuables. Clothing valet stands in each bedroom are are great for organizing your wardrobe. Relax by the warm (turns on with the flip of a switch) in our spacious living room. We are in our condo at least three times per year adding and upgrading amenities (like the giant 60" Samsung TV above our fireplace) assuring you enjoy your stay as much as we do. Please let us know if you have any suggestions to make the Ripke Retreat even more "guest-friendly".
Greg purchased this Condo in 1993
Why Greg chose South Lake Tahoe
We wanted to be close to all area attractions and not feel like we were "trapped" in a casino hotel room. The Ripke Retreat in Bavarian Village is three blocks from highway 50 and Ski Run Blvd. and the brand new "Whole Foods Marketplace" . Minutes and walking distance to the the Ski Run Marina, beaches, and Heavenly skiing! Bavarian Village is in the middle of all SLT venues which makes our RETREAT perfect for in-season biking. The South Lake Tahoe bike path runs by the BV entrance. We enjoy riding our bikes to breakfast to our favorite local restaurants like "Ernie's" and the "Bear Cafe". We boast a rental agency (Pinnacle) that carefully looks after our condo. You'll love our secluded location in the middle of a grove of pine trees. Enjoy the stunning skyward view while you are at the pool or lounging in the year-round complex hot tub. Summer dinners make the food taste better on our balcony table. Take in pine-scented fresh air while listening to the Blue Jays sing. In winter catch the Heavenly Ski Water Shuttle at the Ski Run Marina. The Ripke Retreat is located 50 minutes (depending on road conditions) from fifteen major ski areas like Sierra At Tahoe, Squaw Valley, Kirkwood, Northstar, and Alpine Meadows.
What makes this Condo unique
Our master bedroom picture window view of Heavenly is stunning! We are only one of only three BV buildings boasting this view! We take pride in all our room remodels, especially the kitchen and dining area. Granite countertops extending to the dining room window. Experience true "Tahoe ambiance" with golden pine cabinets trimmed in forest green. We placed an extra table on our balcony so you can enjoy some of your meals outside during warm summer evenings. When the weather turns cold flick the wall switch to light our gas-log fireplace. Then sit back and relax and enjoy DVD movies on our new living room 60" Samsung HD TV. For longer stays the BV community laundry is perfect. Unique to Bavarian Village is the luxurious, spacious heated pool (in season) and new 8-person, year round hot tub. Enjoy the hot tub while looking up at tall pines surrounding you. You cannot do this at stateline when you're stuck in a stuffy hotel room. Don't forget to bring the briquettes in summer to enjoy barbecues right in front of our condo on with adjacent picnic table.

A very nice, comfortable and cozy property just minutes away from Heavenly. Had great memories here and would highly recommend it.
Thanks for the review. Just days before your stay we had our contractor in finishing up on minor upgrades such as moving our bar lights back 9-10 inches so they are directly over the bar so guests don't bump their heads on them. We also had the mid-bath shower wall re-plastered and repainted. Ready for your return trip, hopefully soon!
Lovely and updated
We were looking for a centrally located quiet spot and we hit the jackpot! My only regret is leaving my favorite cooking pot behind.
Hi Eriko; If you like we can have our property manager, Michelle, go into our condo and check for your cooking pot. Although we have notes in our guestbook and next to our front door I can understand how our guests can leave items behind. We'll do our best to get your pot back to you if possible.
fully stocked condo. 30 min. walk to casinos.
My major issue was the beds - mattress was hard and made for poor sleep. Shower water was warm. Some remodeling done. I appreciated the fully stocked kitchen.
Our property description outlines we have added two new Leeza mattresses: One Ca. King in the master bedroom and one Leeza Queen in bedroom number two. Bedroom three features a five-year-old “Sealy Posturedic.” During our 2019 fall cleaning we continue to experience “a great night’s sleep”. We are very discouraged and disheartened you did not sleep well. We will forward your comments to Leeza Customer Service.
“Warm showers”: when multiple guests shower at the same time (notice posted in our bathroom wall frame) we advise guests to use our “soap-up” buttons on the shower heads to save hot water.
“Some remodeling”: Our photos above do not lie. We urge our future guests to post and confirm every room has been redone,
Ivan, We have tried our utmost in the last twenty-five years to provide our guests with the utmost in amenities and are sorry we did not meet your expectations.
Nice apartment in south tahoe
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. The property is well furnished and decorated. We got everything we need. The only bad experience was my husband’s head bumped into shower door frame in master bathroom and light above dining table multiple times. They’re definitely too lower because my husband is 5’10”
Sorry your husband bumped his head into the dining room table chandelier. Solution: Center the dining room table to create equal space under it. The ceiling is a bit lower above the dining table but will consider raising the chandelier when we are up September 2, 2019, Thanks for letting us know as we take all reviews into consideration!
Nice place to stay in South Lake Tahoe
Really like this place, close to downtown (15-20 minute walk or a short drive) and convenient location. This was our second stay there, it is a good size place for 5 or 6 people (3 bedrooms) and has a very nice kitchen. We also enjoyed the hot tub outside.
HI Alex; Yes! We love the fact we are in the middle of all venues but are three blocks off Hwy. 50 so you can enjoy the peace and quiet. Opening our kitchen by removing the dining room wall really added square footage to our condo.
Great, clean, very efficient and clearly marked direction. Will stay again
The heart of South lake Tahoe features a 'world of activities' including bicycling, roller blading, gaming, skiing, hiking, swimming, boating, Heavenly Gondola/restaurant, even hot air ballooning at Lake Tahoe Balloons (we recommend it!)
