About this property

Last Outpost Ranch House

Gorgeous ranch with "million-dollar view" convenient to Bandera, Kerrville and Medina. Surrounded by large game ranches, so you can literally sit and watch the buffalo roam.

Two full stories of Texas beauty are yours at the Last Outpost's Ranch House! This kid-friendly vacation rental is an amazing Hill Country family gathering spot. Kids (must be 5 years or older) love the buffalo and wildlife that roam the game ranches that neighbor the property, and its secluded location ensures peace and privacy. With space that comfortably sleeps up to six people, the Ranch House is the perfect family gathering spot! There are other great attractions within a half hour or so from here, too; take the family tubing on the Medina and Guadalupe rivers, or surround yourself in the natural beauty of the Hill Country State Natural Area. It's also a great starting point for scenic tours of the region.

Mountain views delight the eye here in every direction. With both a porch and an outdoor seating area - both of which have plenty of patio furniture - you can soak in those views in quiet comfort. In the mood for a snack, or maybe a steak? A chimenea, fire pit (with wood provided), and charcoal grill are on hand for your use here. You'll be greeted with a generous quantity of breakfast foods left in the house for your enjoyment in the morning, including delicious treats like bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, and coffee.

From its sturdy stone foundation to its professionally-decorated interior, the Ranch House is your Texas home away from home! Heating and cooling units, along with ceiling fans, keep the space comfortable, and five plush beds provide dreamy sleeping accommodations for up to six people. There's a fully-appointed kitchen and a full bathroom with a shower stall, and all bed and bath linens are included during your visit. Another nice little extra is the complimentary beverages you'll find in the fridge! The TV here has cable service, as well. The house's remote location means there is no Wifi, and be aware cell coverage can be spotty here.

Wonderful and Relaxing
Third stay at this property- peaceful and beautiful ranch, with a friendly horse named Sky and several longhorns. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Plenty of breakfast fixings available. The cabin is comfortable and clean and the decor is wonderful. Always love staying here. Convenient to Bandera and Kerrville.

Peaceful and Beautiful
What a wonderful stay at the Last Outpost! Repeat visitor. Such a peaceful place- gorgeous views from the front porch, and we really enjoyed all the animals (longhorns, Sky the friendly horse, and the deer) and birds. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated with a Western theme. 10 miles north of Bandera and convenient to Kerrville and the Guadelupe River, too. My friends and I absolutely loved this property and appreciated our friendly hosts, Joan and Greg.

Out In The country but “IN IT”
What caught our eye about the place was Joan provided breakfast goods! We had eggs, bacon, pancakes and coffee one morning and eggs, bacon, oatmeal, orange juice and coffee the next and then we were set to go have adventures!! Friendly animals and others behind fences made it a true Texas country place! The owner was so sweet and pleasant with us and even brought by some oatmeal raisin fresh baked 🍪!Yums! We craved some peace and quiet and totally got that too. The television availability was good and there were channels and selections for all ages. Do realize that the bedroom and bathroom are up a good long stairway. No bathroom down. For our adventures in this hill country area this, as the title indicates, was centered between the three places we wanted to visit: Bandera (our first visit), Medina (also first visit), and Kerrville (been many times but still find new things). We enjoyed Cowboy Saturday in Bandera and had our last evening dinner there Sunday at The O.S.T., the 2nd oldest restaurant in Texas! Delicious home cooking!! Though Medina is a small, small town we had a hard time deciding which building was The Apple Store (no IMacs 😊). You will love the ice cream and various apple creations including apple cinnamon ice cream!! Back in Kerrville we found the city park, Schreiner Park, and checked out campsites for another time. We also wanted to recheck where the first H‑E‑B grocery store had been and could not find the historical marker which we know we have seen before:)! No luck on that. I think it was Sunday when Joan asked if we needed any groceries as she was going in to the store. So nice and hospitable!! All in all this Presidents weekend was a nice breather away from noise of suburbs and cities where we live. Some awesome roads to drive and in spring I bet it will be gorgeous. The only things that I would recommend are: need a measuring cup for cooking (I could not find one, boost the cell reception (and that could totally be my service provider issue), and maybe have Wi-Fi available (but probably good for us not to have it). These are really minor to the awesome getaway that this gave us!!

Friendly and country
The house was full of antiques with the modern conveniences. Our host, Greg was very helpful and asked us regularly if we needed anything. he gave us dining suggestions for the area as well as giving us suggestions for things to see and do. The wildlife on the property (horse, cats, longhorns, chickens, deer, etc) made it feel like home. the house was very comfortable and they provided us with all the fixings for breakfast each morning. All in all, i would recommend this site and would return next time we are in the area.

We really enjoyed being able to feed the sweet horse and beautiful longhorns on the property. Chickens had us on our toes. Our kids will remember this trip always! Thank you!
