About this property

South Haven Peach Mansion

This home is part of the history of South Haven. The original owner has a street, bridge, beach and park named after him in the town, and his son was the mayor of the town for awhile as well. It was built on the largest peach farm in Michigan in 1860. Many locals refer to the home as the "Home of 11 Gables". This truly unique architecture has withstood the test of time and has been updated with today's conveniences coupled with the charm of over 150 years ago.
The home boasts 2 living areas (2 living rooms, 2 kitchens) - perfect for those large families. There are 5 bedrooms and 3 full, and updated, bathrooms . You have to climb up into the 2-story turret that was built to overlook the original owner's peach trees. Now it looks out into the tree tops as you sit up to 2 levels above the peaks of the 11 gables of the roof. The first level of the turret has been converted into a library with 360 degree views - a great place to relax. The second story of the turret can be used as a great hide-away or a place to play some music.
The home sleeps 12 and has enough beds for most combinations. There are 4 queen beds, 1 double bed and 3 twin beds - allowing everyone to spread out if they wish.
The home is offered as a vacation rental for the first time in decades this summer (2019). It will be fully furnished and appointed to make your stay as comfortable as can be.
We also offer full-house wifi to allow you to stay connected while you are just blocks from the south beach area of South Haven. You are also just 5-6 blocks from beautiful downtown South Haven that is lined with great shops and delicious restaurants. We are glad to make recommendations for you on where to dine while in town.
The home is situated on 4 parcels and extends all the way from one block, through the middle of the block, to the other street. There is plenty of room for your group to enjoy the great MI weather in the yard - whether that is playing lawn games or relaxing in a hammock.

We hope that you will find that the Peach Mansion in South Haven has all that you need for your vacation. Please reach out with any questions.

Great family home
This old home on a large lot was perfect for our extended family of 9. Lots of indoor and outdoor space--2 kitchens (we used one to cook in and the other for snacks ad drinks) and 2 living areas. We were all able to sit at the dining room at the same time--something very important to us. There was a fire pit--but it was a little too warm to use, so we just sat outside in the shade and enjoyed each others company. We were able to walk downtown and wander in all the shops. The lake was a short drive away with very nice beach. We would definitely come again. We had a few minor questions that were answered promptly. For being such an old house it was very quiet--no squeaky floors.

Designer Eye Brings Life to a Tired Mansion
Great experience! Two families and matriarch (10 people total) spread out in this old mansion a few blocks east of downtown. Fast walkers can hit the downtown tasting rooms and shops within 10 minutes. Great fire pit in yard along with a game room with ping pong and poker table and fusball. Great architect/interior designer Eye brought to the many rooms including furnishings, paint colors, and wood trim. Modern tech available including WiFi and flat screens. First floor adequately cooled by central air. Upstairs has fans and window a/C's. The library tower is a must chill out spot. Two kitchens. Provide plenty of space for storing snacks and drinks and prepping dinner for nights in.

Summer Getaway
We originally booked this property back in 2020, then COVID shut that down, so we rolled it over to the summer of 2021, but our daughter was having a baby then and we decided to wait and rolled it over to 2022, and the third time was a charm. The house is really cool and we had plenty of room for my wife and I, our daughters family, and our son in law's brother's family (10 total). Having two kitchens was really nice, and the large dining table was a great place to eat (and occasionally work a little). We are from a St Louis suburb and the temperature the week we were in South Haven was around 99+ the whole week, so it was really nice to avoid that for a while. Jill was very helpful, and the town of South Haven and the beach were very enjoyable. We will try to do it again some time if we can! Jim and Debbie

Excellent place for a gathering of friends and family
We celebrated a half century birthday with card games and board games. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Enjoyed having multiple kitchens and eating places. Loved the great table in the main dining room. It was enough room for everyone to eat dinner together. Absolutely loved the house and will definitely come back!

About the host

After marrying in 2018, Serge and Kelly wanted to invest in real estate. Kelly, being from Michigan (Serge is from Missouri) was very familiar with the amazing beach town of South Haven. After seeing this home listed for sale online, Kelly and Serge brought the idea to Kelly's brother, Kyle and his wife, Stacey. The four of us spent countless hours painting and rehabbing this old farm home into a vacation destination for our families as well as groups like yours. Kelly and Serge continue to own and run the home with the help of our local property manager, Jill.

Why they chose this property

So much history! To recognize the story of the original owner and his importance to the community was the perfect reason to help renovate this home and make it accessible to others. We have enjoyed past owners and the historical society sharing photos, painting and stories with us since we moved in. Most of it is on display for you to see when you stay with us.

What makes this property unique

Two living areas! There is plenty of room for your group whether you want to be close together or distancing yourself. Between the spacious layout of the home or the large 1-acre land with lots of trees, you have lots of ways to enjoy the home! There is even a game annex in the yard (indoors) that has a ping pong table, foosball and dartboard. This room is unfortunately not climate controlled...yet...
