Marvellous Mood maker for all.
Small but fully equipped with anything you would need. Lucie was the perfect hostess leaving us to enjoy our stay while being available if help was needed. Lucie's English is really good so our lack of French was no hinderence. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, as we're our dogs. Lucie had prepared a small gift for our arrival which was gratefully accepted. Everything was excellent.
Spacious, quiet, and quaint
The old farm was a perfect place to base out of for our Loire Valley wine tour with Vincent Danby. This house had good amenities, very pleasant host, champagne waiting in the fridge, and spacious yard.
It was a pleasure to welcome you :)
Heaven on earth
Words do not suffice to describe this beautiful property. As a lone traveller, my first impression was that is WAS, as Nancy P. (another reviewer), pointed out, very remote, and initially wished I had brought a friend and some books.
But its remoteness is its beauty! You wake, and fall asleep to complete silence.
Lucie was extremely welcoming, and very patient helping me sort out my problems getting the TV to work. There was also a bottle of bubbly in the fridge, and some home-made biscuits, chocolates and fig jam to welcome me. The apartment is very spacious. Perhaps if I had been staying longer, a little more space for food items in the cupboards might have helped, but it wasn't really a problem.
The garden is HUGE, and was completely safe for my little dog. there are plenty of areas to sit outside, although it was just a little too cold for that.
The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower wonderful.
The apartment faces East, so it was lovely to watch the sun rise every morning, and marvel at the beautiful light cast by the sunsets, and the stars at night in a place where there is very little light pollution.
I have been to this area three times before, and there is never any shortage of things to do.
A note about the supermarket, (Intermarche)..it is only a 10-minute drive away, and supplies everything you need.
I visited many place I had been to before, and a few new ones.
I can highly recommend a walk along the Cher, from Le Port, near St. Georges-sur-Cher, towards Montrichard. I only met 3 other people. And a drive to the Sologne, including Mennetou-sur-Cher, a charming medieval village on the Canal du Berry, and then on to Etang du Puits, where you can swim the largest of the lakes here. Azay-le Rideau and Loches are also favourites of mine.
To sum up, I had a wonderful stay, and simply cannot wait to return as soon as possible. Hopefully in September, or definitely next spring. (And by the way Lucie, the price suited my pocket very well, so please please please, don't put up your prices!!!) Thank you again, Lucie, a thousand times.
P.S. I should add that the apartment was spotlessly clean. The only minus was the difficulty getting internet indoors, but it wasn't really a problem for me.
it was a great pleasure to welcome you with your little dog and I hope to see you again very soon !!! I promise that my prices will not change :)
Way too isolated from everything
Bathroom Sink leaked innundating all our things in the cabinet.
Way too isolated from everything-- 10 miles to nearest groceries.
I'm so sad to read your comment about my cottage !
You are the first tourists to find the bed uncomfortable and I'm sorry it didn't fit you...
About the leak, you should have warned me, I could have done the necessary !!
Yes, the cottage is located in a small country village but less than 10 minutes from the town of Bléré where are all shops. There is also in my village at 2 minutes walking, the restaurant which have groceries, bread …
For your next travels, you should indicate very specific criteria like downtown or shops on foot to not to be disappointed!
Finally, it would be fair to indicate in your message the little attentions put in the cottage for you, the free bottle of wine, the baby equipment made available for free for you, my smiling welcome despite your late arrival...
It's too bad that it doesn't appear and that only the negative caught your attention !
Perfect for a couple with bikes
As gite newbies, and seeking somewhere for a stopover en route to Bordeaux with car and two bikes, we thought this fitted the bill after checking that we would be able to keep the bikes somewhere safe. We ended up booking three nights so as to have an opportunity to get a first taste of the Loire Valley for a possible future holiday.
In fact the stay exceeded our expectations in so many ways, and we may well return to this very place one day.
Our compact gite was perfect for a couple, consisting of an open plan living area with a separate bedroom and a spacious en-suite shower room, all very nicely done. The gite can accommodate an extra two in the living room but it is really meant for two.
There is a table and chairs outside and you can help yourself to a barbecue.
There is also a laundry room adjoining, where games and tourist information can be found. This facility is shared with a second, larger gite with three bedrooms and sleeping up to 10 (four in bunk beds). For a larger group, renting both gites seemed a very enticing prospect.
The gites have use of the owners' spacious, attractive and completely enclosed gardens, in which several play facilities have also been laid on.
We visited Villandry (famous for its kitchen garden) and Clos de Lucé, the house where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years, and spent a lovely day cycling along the Loire, where cyclists are really well catered for.
So all in all, much more than a mere stopover, with Lucie's gite providing a perfect venue for our short stay, but in which we could happily have spent several more days.
Everything we needed was provided, a bubbly treat awaited us on arrival, and the double bed was very comfortable.
Thank you very much Steven for this comment very complete and so nice !!!
I hope to see you soon for a new stay in my cottage...
and thank you again for your gifts, cakes and tea have already been tested :)
Well equipped gite with friendly host.
We enjoyed our 2 nights at Lucies she looked after us very well. The gite was comfortable and well equipped and the garden with its games was great fun
