Cabin E is situated on a plateau overlooking the stream and community bon-fire area, just a short walk to whitewater stream that runs through a majestic hemlock forest. In some places, the stream is a constant source of energy and playfulness; in other places, it is peaceful and calming, inviting you to soak in its beauty. The forest contains a vast array of plants and wildlife. Abrams Creek is near many extraordinary recreational sites, but is also its own destination.
The Space
Cabin E is a rustic camping cabin; it has electricity, but no plumbing. The cabin has basic electric heat, a microwave, and a small refrigerator.
The cabins are fully furnished with beds, chairs, table, and other necessary furniture. Our guests bring their own pillows, blankets, sheets, towels, pots, pans, plates and silverware.
There is a private portapotty assigned to the cabin, and a shower room with hot and cold water at the main lodge, as well as sources of potable drinking water. Our cabins and sanitary facilities are sterilized between guests with hospital-grade equipment; we have taken every measure to safeguard your health!
A charcoal grill and a propane tabletop stove are available by request at registration when you arrive, at no additional charge. The stove uses the (approximately) 1 lb cylinders that are readily available, and we sell them as well.
We also sell charcoal, charcoal lighter, fire starter, and firewood, if you need any of these, all at very competitive prices. In particular, please do not bring your own firewood. This can spread many tree diseases that can harm our beautiful forests!
If you want less rustic accommodations, we have those as well, at very affordable prices.
Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash when outside the cabin. Most other pets are not allowed; please call if you have specific questions.
There is a fire ring outside the cabin, as well as a charcoal grill and a picnic table.
The cabin does not have WiFi, but there is WiFi in the vicinity of the main lodge house. There is also a phone you can use on the lodge porch, with free long distance, in case your cell phone does not have reception.
When you arrive, please come to the main lodge to register--just bear to the left as you enter the grounds. You are welcome on the grounds anytime that day, but your cabin or campsite will not be available until 3 pm. If you will be arriving after 8 pm, please call when you are on your way so we know about what time to expect you.
Check-out time is 12 noon on your last day with us. Your space needs to be empty and clean by that time, but you are welcome to be on the grounds for the rest of the day.
Guest Access
Near the lodge house and office there is access to a phone with free calls anywhere in the US. There is no WiFi at the cabins, but there is WiFi in the vicinity of the main lodge house.
We are located within 30-45 minutes of many major recreational areas, including Blackwater Falls, Swallow Falls, Dolly Sods Wilderness, the Youghiogheny River, several ski resorts, and Deep Creek Lake. Mount Storm (3 miles) has a general store, gas station, library, motel, sports and recreation store, and public park.
Interaction with Guests
Guests are welcome to interact with hosts as they choose or be as private and secluded as they wish to be. Weather permitting, we have a bonfire most Saturday nights.
