Nightmare in San Antonio
Not sure where to begin with this one. Top to bottom, an atrocious experience. The unit is a recently remodeled shanty in what was formerly the run down area of San Antonio. It is in the process of being gentrified and that is abundantly clear from all the boarded up homes nearby. When you arrive, do your best to ignore the overgrowth of tall grass and weeds blocking the front entrance or the stinking trash cans swarming with flys and filled with maggots. Upon entering, things will seem okay at first, but upon closer inspection you'll see that this property was renovated with speed only in mind, completely sacrificing any quality. The craftsmanship is flimsy at best and it feels like it may fall apart at any moment. The shower is a horrendous experience unless you're a fan of green mold and the feeling of pee trickling onto your head. My girlfriend and I tried to laugh it off, admitting we had probably made mistake. We thought we might be able to tough it out but when we arrived back to property after our first night in town, we were greeted by three massive cockroaches roaming around the living room. I sprung into action and slayed the beasts, trying to assure my girlfriend that we would find a hotel first thing in the morning. We had a sleepless night at Chez Roach and bailed from the property a full day early. When we reached out to the manager immediately following the incident we got no response (despite the guestbook claiming immediate responses for calls or texts to their hotline). After sending a bevy of emails explaining the situation all we received was unaccommodating responses, attempting to gaslight us and say that we didn't find any live roaches... Needless to say they refused even a partial refund, taking no responsibility for the experience. Hopefully VRBO can settle this matter for me and this review will steer future traveler's away. Bottom line, this property is poorly maintained, infested with live cockroaches, and the management is terrible. Avoid at all costs!
The home was exactly how it was mentioned. Overall , it was a great stay and it is a beautiful home. Definitely recommend it.
The property was well furnished and comfortable. It was nice to have a quiet place to escape the downtown madness during the Texas Emergency Management Conference. I appreciated the thoughtfulness of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and coffee! The bed was just perfect for me. I was able to maintain the temperature in the house with the window units. The house does creak a bit in severe thunderstorms but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a good place to stay for four nights. However, there were a couple of issues: the booking process was troublesome due to a hiccup in their reservation system, getting the code/key to the home upon arrival was frustrating due to technology failure, and the neighbor parking/blocking the drive was not ideal. I may re-book for next year's TEMC once the dates are set!
Nice place and kept clean. The adjacent area is under construction so it can get a bit noisy, but over all a great place.
Short drive to downtown and Riverwalk
Cool small house that was comfortable. Worked perfect for our one night trip. Driveway took some navigation as the street was narrow. Well done remodel.
