Fantastic view from this quirky house in a wonderful location
We loved our stay at Blandine's characterful house almost at the top of Cagnes-sur-Mer next to the Castle. The old village is beautifully atmospheric with a great choice of restaurants and stunning panoramic views. The streets are filled with lovely old houses teeming with plants and glimpses of the mountains and sea. The house is quirky, so expect a lot of art and interesting furniture. A nice kitchen with castle view, large dining table and wonderfully spacious lounge with a fabulous view of the bay over to Antibes. One downstairs en suite room and one loft room with more views and bathroom on the living room floor below. You need to be able to manage stairs and steep hills if you are visiting friends (as we were), but to get into the new town and beyond, the free bus was excellent. We enjoyed lunch at the beach, the Renoir House in Cagnes-sur-Mer and a day trip to Nice by bus for 3 euros return, as well as lots of wandering around, reading and relaxing. We were there for a friend's birthday party, but are delighted to have found such a gem of a place and characterful accommodation. Many thanks.
Thank you very much !
Wonderfully charming house in Haut de Cagnes!
My family had an incredible stay at this beautiful, historic home in Haut de Cagnes. We traveled to France for a friend's 40th birthday party, and they suggested that we stay in the old town rather than in Cagnes sur Mer. I'm so glad we followed their recommendation! The decor of the home was perfect, and it included incredible views of the ocean and the town below, from both the 3rd story and 4th story windows. Every morning, we enjoyed and the amazing view and cool breeze over breakfast. The owner, Blandine, was very helpful, even offering to speak to the airline when they lost my wife's luggage. I highly recommend this property, and we will definitely plan to stay there again on our next trip to Cagnes sur Mer.
Thank you very much !
It was a real pleasure for me to see you so happy, finally 😉
Fantastic location, Beautiful views!!
First let me say how amazing Blandine was to communicate with. She always responded promptly and worked closely with me when there were some problems with the HomeAway site. So many pros to this property. First the location was amazing. We took day trips including Monaco, Eze, Nice, Cannes, Antibes and St. Paul de Vence. The village was great and there were so many wonderful family run restaurants all within easy walking distance. We never had a bad meal! The complimentary bus was very convenient and at the Square Bourdet stop you could catch a local bus to just about anywhere you want to go (1.50E/each way). We also used Uber a couple of times and that worked great for shorter distances like Canyon Forest or Polygon Riviera. There is a grocery store at the bottom of the hill (near the bus stop) that had all you need. There was ample space in the apartment for our family of 3 and the views from the living room were amazing all the way to the Med and Antibes. From the kitchen window you could see the castle only a block away. From the breakfast room window you could see planes landing on the runway of the Nice airport in the distance. There was also a nice view to the sea from the top bedroom. I don't have any big negatives for the apartment but there are some things to consider to make sure it fits you: There are a lot of steep narrow stairs. You enter the apartment at street level and climb a flight of stairs to the first floor where there is a double bedroom, ensuite bath & small sitting area. You climb another set of stairs to the main living room, kitchen & main bath. The queen bedroom is up another steep set of stairs (almost like a ladder). This was not a problem for us, but may be for some. Also this is a very old building (14th century we were told by the neighbor who let us in the apartment). So if you want shiny, new and pristine, its not for you. The first floor was a bit dark and musty, but again this is an old building. I always travel with a can of air freshener and that helped. On the main floor you could open the living room windows and kitchen windows and get a nice cross breeze. As I mentioned the castle is close by as is the bell tower. The bell rings every hour (twice) with the number of the hour. 12 rings at 12 o'clock, etc. It is very audible even with the windows closed. This did not bother us as we are all sound sleepers and we actually found it charming. Just like the apartment & the village. Would definitely stay again!
Merci pour votre engouement pour ma maison, je suis ravie que vous l'ayez appréciée à ce point.
Je vais très vite améliorer les éclairages de la pièce de réception du premier étage pour la rendre plus lumineuse.
Stunning views and exceptional value
We stayed for 10 nights in the middle of June and we re extremely happy with our choice. We got into Cagnes-sur-Mer RER station during a thunderstorm and a downpour. The owner was kind enough to come get us from the station and saved us from getting soaked. The first thing you see when you enter the house and same thing you see every morning and every evening are the stunning, incredible views of the sea and the surrounding mountains from the living room and from the upstairs bedroom. The kitchen is well stocked, the bed is very comfortable. The communication with teh owner was easy and timely, before and during the visit. We were unfortunate that during our stay the free bus shuttle to/from Haute-de-Cagnes was not running due to a contract dispute, and as a result we ended up walking up and down the hill a few times every day. The shuttle service resumed during our last day, which allowed us to take the luggage down using the shuttle and to appreciate how convenient it is. The Square Bourdet stop at the foot of the hill is where you can connect with a number of other bus routes for inexpensive access to Antibes, Cannes, Nice, Vence and beyond. Food shopping options near this stop abound as well, including Intermarche and a covered farmer market, as well a host of specialty shops. The beach and the promenade is an easy 10 min walk or another free shuttle ride. the Haute-de-Cgnes village itself is a gem that's well reviewed and I won't go into the details here. Overall, could not recommend this property higher.
An awesome stay in the most beautiful village!
My wife and I wanted to experience a stay in one of those medieval village of South of France. This town house is just next to the castle of Haut de Cagnes, such an authentic village, 10 minutes from the sea, with a gorgeous view on all Mediterranean, from St Jean Cap Ferrat to Cannes. Wake up in a bedroom with such view, take our breakfast in a sunbath (all rooms are equipped with huge windows with sea sight), and then walk in this so deliciously romantic village was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!!! Tks Blandine, you're the most amazing host of the most amazing place we ever stayed!!! This is a 111 rate on a scale of 100!!!
