About this property

Pond View Cottage in Old Chatham WEEKLY & MONTHLY DISCOUNTS OFFERED!!!!

Sweet retreat perfectly located for exploring Columbia County, the Berkshires, or simply lazing on the lawn with lemonade and a good book. Completely renovated in 2019, the cottage has an open layout kitchen, living room and dining area. There are 2 bedrooms, including a spacious master with French Doors leading out to the yard. The house is set in a sunny meadow surrounded by woods with views of the Berkshire mountains. Walk down a grassy path and you’ll wind up at a bass filled pond complete with an ancient dock. We’re told it’s swimmable, though to be honest, none of us have ventured in yet. For hiking, there’s a spectacular Conservation area a mile down the road.

The house has everything you need to live and work comfortably. The kitchen is designed for people who love to cook and is equipped with all new appliances including dishwasher, stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. The cottage has central AC and heating, a washer/dryer, WiFi and TV with an Amazon Firestick. We live in the Main House up the dirt road at Raccoon Forks. However, we’re only there on weekends, so you probably won’t see us.

As your hosts, we believe it’s important to be readily available via phone, text or email should you have questions. If you don’t reach us immediately, we’ll get back to you within minutes. Though we live in New York City, we have a local caretaker who can make a house call if you need in-person help.

Peaceful and tranquil
I stayed late fall. It was clean and well equipped with everything you might need. Very private which I prefer. Beautiful scenery surrounding the home. Kitchen was enjoyable to cook in with the windows overlooking the property. The bed was super comfy. I appreciate that the host let me stay with my fur babies. Host was communicative with answering any questions. Looking forward to my next visit.

Light, bright, and quiet!
This is a very cute house situated on a beautiful property! We enjoyed the location, perfect for exploring the Hudson Valley area. Communication with Bob was easy and prompt. The kitchen appliances were very nice, and there was plenty of counter space to work on. Two minor things to note: We found the wi-Fi connection to be a bit spotty, but we made due. Also, the house is filled with beautiful natural light, but there are no substantial window coverings (except the bathroom.) Just be prepared for bright sunny bedrooms! Finally, it has to be said how much enjoyment my husband had fishing in the pond on property! As a catch-and-release fisherman, he was kept very busy by the many bass at home in that pond! It was a great stay, and I would definitely recommend.

Old Chatham
Cottage is in a lovely location - very private, quiet, and accessible to venues in the Berkshire environs. The owner was very responsive to questions. There had clearly been a lot of attention paid to details that would enhance the stay - books, games, and charcoal for an out door grill. For our longer stay I missed having a convenient place to organize clothes in the master bedroom. Check in and out was easy.

NJ born and raised but have been in Brooklyn for 29yrs. I am finally considered a Brooklynite by my neighbors. Real estate agent for Compass in Brooklyn. Been in the business 10+ years. Finally found my niche. Serious musician (drummer) and started lessons on Feb. 10th 1964 (the day after The Beatles were on Ed Sullivan). Spent 25 years in the ad biz and met my wonderful wife Jan of 28yrs. We adopted our son who is now 22 yrs old. Love my wife and son but our 2 cats not so much.

Why they chose this property

Columbia County was recommended from a work colleague. He and his wife bought The 3 Stooges House in Chatham and restored it. Anybody who bought the Stooges house can be trusted.

What makes this property unique

The views are amazing especially of the pond and Berkshire mountains from the front window. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed redoing the guest house. Hope you enjoy it too.
