Fabulous Gites and host. Richard is super efficient and an accomplished Chef. A must visit for all.
Superb in every way.
A lovely tranquil, rustic French Country Gite.
A beautiful setting in an unspoilt and quiet area of France. A lovely owner who made our stay special, we loved the home baked croissants for breakfast! The pool, swings and animals from the farm nearby made it perfect for the kids, a relaxed family holiday with a bit of luxury living too. We would highly recommend this property!
Dear Susan et al!, thank you so much for your lovely review and kind words, also thank you once again for your helpful suggestions, much appreciated indeed. I hope the rest of your holiday went well and i hope to welcome you back to Bois Mort again one day.
Best wishes to you all.
Wonderful little hideaway
Richard is a superb host who is so welcoming. We would highly recommend his dining experience as a must. The accommodation is clean, rustic in a shabby chic way and offers not just comfortable surroundings but a pool and hot tub on top. We will return.
The property was excellent stunning location so clean everything in it we needed
We found the whole week to be fantastic the hospitality was amazing we took full use of the pool and the hot tub making the holiday even more special
Thank you for your kind words Frances, it was a pleasure to meet you all, and I'm glad you had such a nice time here in Bois Mort, a bonus with the weather being so nice too. Heres hoping you can make it back one day, ensemble or just for a quiet week for yourself.
Fantastic and best place to stay in France
So wonderful - fantastic, tidy, pittoresque - really marquable place to stay and enjoy the French farm.
Host - the most amazing - Richard!!!!! The dinner he served us melt our hearts and his way to make our stay so easy and comfortable was the best part of our stay at Bois Mort.
A rural idyllic getaway
A Bois Mort - a secret delight
On arrival Chez Aline, the prettiest sight
The most perfect gite for our week in the sun
Greeted by Richard, host second to none
With space to relax, and its rustic charm
Outdoor eating, converted barns
A pool to cool, on those 'stay at home days'
And Poolside sun loungers to catch some rays
So much care to ensure a memorable stay
Made our holiday perfect in every way!
Thank you so much Richard.

Discover the history and beauty of this authentic region in Western France.
Gourgé is a commune in the Deux-Sevres department in the
Poitou-Charentes region in western France. It is 10km (6.2 miles) from Parthenay.
The tiny farming hamlet of Bois Mort is located in the Deux-Sevres department, one of four that make up the Poitou Charente region – the other three being Vienne, Charente and Charente-Maritime.
The Deux-Sevres, sits in the north of the Poitou Charente region, just below the Loire Valley, which makes it an ideal staging post to sample the wines of the Haut-Poitou and the Loire, with the picturesque fairy-tale city of Saumur only a 55 minute drive away.
The Deux-Sevres is an unspoilt, farming area, so in the summer expect sunflower fields, swaying golden wheat and tall lush fields of maize.
We are close to two beautiful villages, Gourgé with its Romanesque church, beautiful ancient roman bridge and old water mill, where you can fish and picnic – it’s also possible to hire horse drawn gypsy caravans at certain times during the summer! Within the village is a small store and bakers. In the opposite direction lies the medieval village of St Loup Sur Thouet, a ‘Petit Cite de Character’, with bars, restaurant, auberge, baker, newsagent / bar tabac and village store. Also in the village is a small chateau and church, with beautiful stained glass windows and interesting history – being linked to two local saints.
We are blessed in this region with a wonderful climate and diverse geography, making it a fabulous place to come and enjoy your holidays, whatever your interests – gastronomy to kayaking, walking, cycling, or simply sitting by the pool and relaxing - it can all be found here!
