Trego Lake house and Trego Lake did not disappoint. Communication with CJ was so easy and he was so responsive. The kitchen was updated since the pictures were taken and there is a beautiful home office now too. The internet was really fast , the house really clean and the beds were so comfy. Plenty of space for our extended family that offered privacy for all of our families. There were so many books, games for all ages. The lake is spectacular and the kayaks were a great bonus. We all caught fish and had great swimming. It is weedy by the dock but could be raked by shore. The only thing we wished we had was outdoor dining space- I longed for a picnic table for a bigger party on the deck or by the fire pit.we loved how close it was to Spooner too.such a great little gem!
We had a great family vacation at the Trego Lake House. We were looking for a place on a lake, with pontoon availability, great yard space and large enough to accommodate our growing family ( 8 adults and 4 grandkids under 5)
This home checked all the boxes.
Upon our arrival we found the home very comfortable and inviting. Air conditioning was set to a comfortable temp, ceiling fans running and accent lighting on, even a basket filled with s’more making items, making it feel like home. The house was clean, very well equipped with everything you could need for your stay, from the kitchen to outside. The homes 3 levels gave our family plenty of space . Beds were comfortable and the rooms were cozy. We used the large sized pontoon several times each day for some fishing and finding the perfect spot to anchor and swim. We enjoyed the large yard for a few games of kickball, used the paddle boards and kayaks . The fire pit was perfect for evening bonfires and enjoying s’mores. A big hit with the grandkids!
Excellent communication from the property managers.
Our only disappointment was the lack of beach access, which was very weedy vs sandy. Not a deal breaker by any means but with the very young ages of our grandchildren a cleaner beach area would have been better for our little ones swimming.
There were pros and cons for our group of 10 adults ages from 45-86. Pros, a lovely location with flat access from the downstairs to the water. We rented the pontoon and it was large and lovely for cruising the lake. The entire home was more spacious than the pictures led one to believe and we all could find plenty of room to space out and relax. Plenty of closet storage space.
The kitchen was much nicer than the photos show, with new appliances and countertops. Cooking saucepans and serving bowls were scanty, though. A few basic spices were available and a Keurig and coffee pods were nice. Lots of linens and plenty of towels but not enough washcloths without doing a load of laundry-not a problem for us as we carry lots of extras.
Cons were the steep incline between the house and the garage and parking area which did not show in the photos. One of our group could not negotiate that well so we had to leave a car down by the house to shuttle her up. cleanliness not the best, hair in the bathroom drawers and black ring in one toilet. Food scraps in the refrig/freezer. and child handprints on the sliding glass door. Master bedroom ceiling fan quite fuzzy. Very odd wire fencing lining the deck and outdoor stairway caught on clothes and skin making it impossible to grasp the rail for balance. Also, some ongoing improvements underway which will be nice when finished but didn't interfere with our enjoyment. Still, I would return except for the incline behind the house.
We had a great time at this cabin - so spacious we didn't really utilize the downstairs area as the upstairs was ample. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and great outdoor space for games. We didn't rent the pontoon but having the kayaks and paddle boards were a plus. Thank you!
We had a fantastic time at cj's cabin. It was everything and then some as explained in the listing! Renting the pontoon boat was great too. It was also wonderful having the use of the kayaks and the paddle boards. The shoreline was a bit weedy but that was beyond CJ's control... As a matter of fact when we noticed the weed rake was missing CJ was out there within a few hours dropping off souther one. The cabin is beautifully taken care of and The little extras all around the cabin did not go unnoticed
The house exceeded expectations. We didn't have the best weather, so appreciated the indoor space for games and movies. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We also rented the pontoon which was very reasonably priced and in great condition. Fish in the lake taunted us a bit, but at least my 3 year nephew caught the only fish of the week!
It was a wonderful stay. The owner was very responsive to my questions. The home was warm and welcoming. We had a great time and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you
This is a perfect winter hideaway. The kitchen is very well stocked with anything you can think of. The large island and table made cooking and socializing easy. There are multiple areas in the house with comfortable seating so our group had options depending on which activity we were planning at any time. The four bedrooms gave our group places to have time alone.
CJ is helpful and responds quickly. This is a wonderful place to stay when you want to be with people special to you!
The online photos and description of this property are very accurate, and the actual experience far exceeded our expectations . CJ was very responsive, kind and helpful once the booking was made. Set close to the lake, this handsome chalet-style cabin has tons of character. Tastefully furnished, roomy and comfortable, our party of four adults, one toddler, and two pets had room to spread out comfortably for meals, movies, games, naps, play time and quiet reading. Although we were there in wintertime and could not take full advantage of outdoor amenities, the lake view was picturesque and felt very peaceful. We SO appreciated the overall cleanliness, the modern kitchen, and the well stocked, thoughtful provisions throughout the house!
This was our 2nd time staying at the Trego Lake House and it continues to be one of the best values on VRBO you can find. The house is absolutely immaculate and has everything you could want. little things like having cabinet space in the kitchen that you can use to put your things away make a huge difference in having an organized kitchen to keep you feeling relaxed. The property is very well maintained. C. J. does a fantastic job of communicating, he responds to any questions you may have promptly. Trego Lake is an excellent smallmouth bass fishery, it also has a decent musky fishery that resulted in a 42" musky being boated. The fall colors in northwest Wisconsin seen from a slow cruising on the pontoon is amazing. There is plenty to do in the house as well, games, conversation areas, books and DVD's galore. if you can't have fun and relax here you probably won't anywhere else.
Good access for canoeing the Namekagon. Kayaks a nice perk. Kitchen has good amenities. Had some trouble with the new fridge - property manager was super responsive.
My family stayed at this property for one week for our vacation, and it was wonderful! The layout of the cabin was perfect for our group of 8, plenty of space to spread out and relax when we had rainy days. The large selection of games, puzzles, and movies was very much appreciated! Most of our time was spent outdoors though - we were so happy with the large yard, and the pontoon is very convenient. We had everything we needed for both a comfortable and entertaining stay, and we hope to be back!
This truly was one of the nicest VRBO's that we stayed at. We went with my 85 year old parents & very easy for them to get around. The youngest was my 12 year old granddaughter & a ton of things for her to do. Wonderful stay!! Can't say enough good things.
A few years back we established an annual family outing, spending a week together enjoying the sunshine, water and local interests at a VRBO. The Trego Lake Cabin only a couple hours from the Twin Cities has been great destination. Large enough with 4 bedrooms to accommodate everyone comfortably. Well appointed kitchen for family meals and pontoon to tour the lake. It has served our family well .
Our group was adult children and grandparents and was perfect for all. We really enjoyed the use of the pontoon. The home had everything we needed and more.
This is the perfect property for a multi-generational family vacation. The home was beautiful, super clean, comfortable beds. and a well supplied kitchen. There were lots of places to find a quiet corner to read both inside and out. Our two granddaughters had their first lake experience -- swam and fished right off of dock and loved the pontoon boat rides. Thanks so much for opening this lovely home to us.
