About the host

Host profile image
We have known the area since 2006, when we started to come on family holidays and fell in love with Pont de Barret and La Drome-Provencale!
We decided to move here full time when our youngest daughter was 9 and the older ones were at University!
We bought a second house 4 kms away in 2012, where we now live and run a successful gite business, 'Les Beaux Chenes'.
This year, we have decided to expand our business and diversify by also offering a traditional, historic, stonebuilt village house
Our aim is to share our passion for this undiscovered part of France with those who already know the area and to introduce the area to those who have not had the pleasure of visiting before!

Why they chose this property

Beside the river Roubion and set over several levels, we fell in love with this traditional stone built house in 2006. Having spent some memorable family holidays here, we loved it so much that when the previous owners wanted to sell, we decided to buy it as a second home!
We have walked up almost every hill and mountain the we can see from the village house and love the landscape and the nature.

What makes this property unique

A real hidden jewel, with all the benefits of Provence, with sunflowers and lavender but without the crowds!
Beautiful views from the sun terrace, which overlooks the Roman church, the river and the surrounding hills and mountains.
The historic building was previously owned by the Chateau and went on to provide accommodation to workers at the nearby silk mill. Today, the properties leading up to the Chateau, comprise houses and apartments.
The ancient architecture is interesting, with the knowledge that the buildings have stood thus long, alongside the river Roubion!
The bridge at the end of the road is one of the few Roman bridges in tact and the historic Roman village is a pleasure to amble around!
The village is 'living' with excellent local commerce, a bar which stays open all year round, a Boulangerie, a Post Office and 3 excellent restaurants.
