Home away from home
Location was perfect for daily pool visits and easy walks around town. We liked this property, felt at home with rustic comfort.
Air conditioned with two bathrooms and good kitchen to socialize at mealtimes. The neighbors are very friendly and helpful while keeping to themselves in Vermont tradition. This was a perfect way for us to visit with family and have our own space. Our 10 year old daughter loved the loft!
Enjoyed our Stay
Cara's property was very special. We loved the openness of the floor plan and truly enjoyed the deck and looking out the 3 French doors from the sofa to a serene view of overhanging shade trees and dappled sunlight. Everything was available to make our stay comfortable. Cara's sister who was on site occassionally was available to assist when the key we had didn't work. We were very grateful.
Great location, comfortable, cozy and charming!
Met our needs perfectly-wish we could have stayed longer-right on the green so could walk to restaurants!
Perfect place to get away. Very clean with all the necessary amenities. The neighbors are very friendly. Quiet deck overlooks a lovely field. Great places to eat within walking distance. Owner is friendly and helpful.
Thanks so much Brooke. We do hope you will come see us again soon.
Cozy and Clean but a few hiccups
Very cozy and clean but some small communication problems regarding the key so we had to leave the place unlocked while out touring. The area seemed very safe so no problems, just a little uneasy. Also photos show small creek that looked inviting but when we went in the back yard the neighbor was quick to yell about us being in her yard. There was yellow caution tape all up against the back of the house in which the neighbor was quick to tell us that is our boundaries. Chester is sweet, small and charming. Buttermilk falls was beautiful as well as the covered bridges along the way and of course Vermont Farm Stores! All in all a great trip.
I'm sorry about the key situation but I understand my sister was quick to fix that so I hope it wasn't too much of a problem. We are a little lax in the locking up because it is such a safe little town. As far as the neighbor, uggg! My family has been going down to that brook for 70 years and we have never had a problem. Just goes to show you what a bad seed can do to the neighborhood. She is of course responsible for the yellow tape as well. I've never had to tell guests how to get to the creek without walking through the 5 feet of grass that she owns but I sure will now.
Lovely stay in Chester, VT
My husband, 2 children (ages 2 and 10mo) and dog recently stayed at this lovely converted barn in Chester, Vermont. The pictures don't really do it justice - it is more spacious than you would think. My 6'6" husband had a bit of trouble with the low beams and sloped ceilings, but it wasn't too bad. The space was very clean and had almost everything we needed. I might suggest a toaster and a larger coffee maker! The only drawback I can possibly think of is the parking area. We were there during a wet weekend, and the parking area was so muddy that it was hard to get in and out of the area without tracking mud everywhere. I know paving is expensive, but it might be worth it! Overall, though, we loved the place. It was close to downtown with the cute shops, close to the town park, and close to all the local ski areas we love. We would definitely return! Thanks for a great stay!
Thanks for the note Alexandra. Sorry about the toaster. I honestly don't know what happened to it because it was there for the guests before you. I will look in to the bigger coffee maker. As far as the driveway, my family has always preferred the look of the gravel over the pavement. We usually only have issues with it during muddy season and sadly not many people come to see us during that time so it hasn't been a problem. I am sorry it was a problem for you though.
