Gorgeous villa with an amazing view. The owner is lovely & the cleaner did an amazing job. She kept everything spotless throughout our stay. Our family had a fabulous week. Thank you Thalia.
Lovely villa in a quiet location.
We had a lovely week in this villa with plenty of room for our family of four. The pool was great, clean and big. The location was good. It was quiet but for the two days I was there without a car before my husband arrived I was able to walk to the mini market, the local restaurants and the nearest beach. There are five restaurants within walking distance (within 20 minutes walk), we tried them all and enjoyed them all except Stamna (the restaurant opposite the mini market). Trapezaki beach was ok but we found other much nicer beaches locally however the restaurant on Trapezaki beach was good.

The villa was perfect for our holiday. Close enough to local small supermarket and 3 nice restaurants to be able to walk. Standard of cleanliness was very good and partway through we had maid service who changed bed sheets and towels which we were not expecting for only a week lond stay.
The only negative thing I have to say is that we found the owner suddenly appearing from time to time a little disconcerting and not something we have ever experienced before when renting a villa.

The villa location and view was perfect. Its in a quiet, but accessible area 15 minutes from the airport central to the southern part of the Island. There are a bank of four villas, but they are perfectly secluded from each other that you will never know you have neighbours nor will you be worried people can see you in the pool/sunbathing.
We stayed a week in June 2018 and had a wonderful time. We were a party of five ranging from ages 51, 44, 43, 24 and 21. The villas amenities are up to date, clean and in fully working order, there is a lovely veranda where you can sit outside and eat, or a large enough dining area inside which we never used as the weather was perfect to have all of our meals that we took at the villa outside.
The pool is in an L shape with a 1.8m deep end on the L, with enough sunbeds and chairs around it for plenty. Were quite a large family and we never felt like we were in each other?s way.
There is also a barbecue which we found good use for
There are lots of hills locally and around the Island and a car would be a necessity for the big shops that are a little out of walking distance and if you wanted to investigate the Island.
There is a Lidl and a Greek Supermarket on the main road to Argostoli about 7km from the villa.
The local shop is a five minute walk and the beach about another 10 from there. The shop is a perfect halfway point if you are walking back as you may need refreshment because of said incline back from Trapezaki beach.
One of us hired a bicycle and used that to ride around the local area and to the capital Argostoli. The bike hire place is a five minute walk from the local shop and for ?20 you got two days hire, with panniers, helmet and lights should you wish to venture out at night.
The island itself is amazing, we drove to most of the major cities all with their own individual charms, and there are several beautiful beaches along the way.
Sami is a port town where you can sit on the front in one of the many Tavernas and admire the expensive boats and look out to Ithaca
Argostoli is the biggest city on the Island. It has a lovely walkway across the bay and a several restaurants overlooking the bridge.
Assos is an old Venetian town with a large castle on the peninsular. The walk to the top is not for the faint of heart, but the view once you get near the top are spectacular.
Fiscardo is the town furthest North and has a wonderful harbour and views to Ithaca from a different perspective.
The driving conditions are fairly adequate, most of the roads are well maintained but some of the hairpins on the roads are first gear bends and the local drivers are quite frisky for overtaking manoeuvres.
In summary, lovely villa and you need to be fit or have a car to make the most of the local amenities.
My only gripe is the firmness and how the low the double bed was in the double room. A new mattress might cure that, but that might just be a personal preference as Im 6ft 5 and weigh 17st.
Villa Thalia Sofia is situated in Trapezaki on the Greek island of Kefalonia.
Trapezaki Beach is long and sandy with the focus around a tiny harbor where locals keep their fishing boats. Strict building restrictions have prevented any building close to the beach so there is a very natural feel to it with the original charm remaining. There are a few tavernas and above the bay a couple of mini-markets.
Lourdas Bay is one of the largest bays of Kefalonia and is fringed by over 3 kms of sand and pebble beach. The area has a backdrop of pine forests and cypress trees which grow on the slopes of Mount Ainos. Irrigated by natural springs, the local area is famous for its fertile lands producing a variety of fresh vegetables so that many of the tavernas offer homegrown produce as well as freshly caught fish. Tavernas, cafes, bars, mini-markets and souvenir shops are sprinkled along the winding road down to Lourdas beach. Motor boats rental is also available.
Koroni is a very quiet sandy beach. Famous for its sand and therapeutic clay (you can mix up your own mud pack) which can be found below the rocks to the far side of the beach. One of the best ways to visit Koroni beach is to hire your own motor boat (no license required) from Katelios.
Katelios is a sleepy coastal village with sandy beach and small fishing harbour. Katelios is famous for its fresh fish tavernas that line the waterfront. There are several (low-key) bars, a couple of supermarkets and an exchange/car rental office. The beach rarely becomes busy, with the largest number of visitors being the loggerhead turtles who favour the soft sand for making a nest!
