About this property
4BR home in Yough Mtn Resort, sleeps 12. 15 min to Deep Creek Lake Resort
Laurel Grove is a large chalet situated on a beautiful mountain site with western exposures for perfect sunsets! Inside you will enjoy a warm and inviting mountain retreat with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, along with a sleeper sofa, to accommodate up to 12 guests. The outdoor space offers a large wrap-around deck, hot tub overlooking the mountains and valley, gas grill, backyard fire pit (fire wood provided) backed by lush forest, a basketball hoop, and ample parking for 4-5 vehicles. We love this place and think you will have an amazing visit too!
Inside, the main level features a large open living/dining/kitchen area, with a classic mountain woodstove (firewood provided) as the focal point. Beautiful views abound from everywhere in the space. The kitchen is fully stocked for elaborate meals or a quick breakfast with coffee. The hallway on the main level leads to a full bathroom, a bedroom with 1 full bed, and another bedroom with bunk beds (full and twin) and another twin mattress. A large loft master suite offers a king bed, sitting area, and private bathroom, with great morning light and views of the valley and mountains. The lower level of the house is a favorite space for fun and entertainment with a pool table, toys and board games, an enormous selection of new and classic DVDs, and access to the outdoor hot tub area. The lower level also has a bedroom with a full bed and direct access to a third bathroom, as well a laundry room with washer and dryer. Ceiling fans are located throughout the house and bedrooms. Even on warmer days the fans are often not needed if the screened windows or doors are opened because of the mountain location and regular breeze.
Many upgrades were installed in summer 2019, including a new gas grill, king mattress, and high-efficiency hot water tank. Laurel Grove offers satellite wifi, but the service in the mountains is slower, so please plan on typical speeds of 1-4 mbps (we are actively looking for faster service options). Also due to the location, there is no cable TV service available. Depending on weather, the antenna picks up channels sporadically (we are also actively exploring options to provide TV service). We also offer a free electric vehicle (EV) charging station for guests with battery electric vehicles (BEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). The charger is a Level 2 charger (32 AMP maximum current) with a common J1772 connector.
Our property is situated in gated land with 50+ miles of private gravel roads that offer excellent walking and biking through forests, streams, and scenic views, including access right to the Muddy Creek. The immediate surroundings include the waterfalls and swimming holes of Swallow Falls State Park (5 min.), the legendary Snaggy Mountain Area trails and natural rock mazes (2 min.) - a favorite of kids and adults alike, Herrington Manner State Park (5 min.), the Cranesville Natural Area (8 min.), and many state forest lands (1-10 min.). The 4,000 acre Deep Creek Lake and Deep Creek Lake State Park, as well as many other outdoor recreation areas, are less than a 15 min. drive. The Deep Creek Lake area also offers plenty of restaurants, bars, nightlife, and recreation outfitters. Throughout our property and the entire region, plant and wildlife are abundant, with frequent opportunities to view deer, bears, lizards/turtles, foxes, turkeys, beavers, an array of birds, and rare mountain plants including lady slippers, ferns, and pitcher plants; lucky guests may even spot tracks of the elusive mountain lions in the area.
The idyllic location of the Laurel Grove Chalet creates a wonderland of activities during every season, including hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, boating, water-skiing, tubing, and canoeing/kayaking in the summer. In the winter, enjoy skiing/snowboarding, snow tubing, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snow-shoeing, and hiking. The fall foliage color is world-class (as is the white water rafting/kayaking), and the spring flowers are beautiful. Of course, all year round, enjoy the clear mountain skies, brilliant starry nights, and memorable camp fires!
