Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8), No WI FI.
I am a native Georgian, growing up on a farm close to the Athens, Ga area. After working in downtown Atlanta 20 years, I fell in love with the North Georgia Mountains and transitioned to this area by purchasing this lovely river house rental. Totally away from it all and a place to unwind from the busy city areas. A place to check out the most beautiful places Georgia has to offer, hiking, cycling, and canoeing. It is definitely for the person who likes the outside and who likes to enjoy nature.
Owner purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Owner chose Sautee Nacoochee
It is one of the few properties that is a rental on the River. Accessing the river is difficult unless you have property or use a company, I have found out, by living here. Peaceful, getaway: NOT LIKE STAYING IN HELEN in a small motel or larger hotel. Floating in your spot on the Chattahoochee, not following the bunch of tubers , bumper to bumper , in Helen.
What makes this Cabin unique
The house is on the Chattahoochee River, and accessing the river was a main reason I purchased this house. I spent a long July 4th tubing on the river , passing this house along the way and realized this is what I wanted for myself and as a rental for others to enjoy.

We had a perfectly lovely weekend at the River Forest Run cabin. It was a great getaway for a little family gathering. We cooked and played games and just had a really relaxing weekend. It was so quiet and away from everything. Thanks!!
I really enjoyed the location on the river and how isolated the house was.
Quiet, clean, and right on the hooch! What else is there to say... Will definitely be back!!
Relaxing get away
We had a group of 6 adults. This home was very relaxing. We enjoyed hanging out outside fishing (caught a few). The bushes on the side and front of the dock could be trimmed just a little so there is more room to fish, but really it was still a good time. The water does not smell good at all, but just bring your own water to drink. The house was easy to find and back in the woods away from everyone else.
Such a relaxing stay!
My husband and I shared this property for a week long stay with his parents and we had a great stay!
The kitchen had all of the necessities for the meals we cooked in, also provided were a crock pot and waffle maker!
This house is in a pretty quiet neighborhood- only real sounds you heard from other neighbors was occasionally a lawn mower. We saw many deer throughout our stay. It was very conveniently located- only about 15-20 minutes to get to the local Super Walmart and about 15 minutes into Helen.
As stated, there is no wi-fi and in the house we had practically no cell service either (Verizon) but if you go either up the driveway or down to the river we did. This was great to force us to actually unplug and enjoy our vacation while still being able to get it if you need.
There were a few small tubes there, but we brought our own so didn't use them. I will say that it is a very steep entry point to the river so use caution. Children and older people may have issues. The river depth right there varied based on the rains but was usually about waist deep. We wanted to just float on our tubes without heading down the river so ended up tying a rope to them and making an anchor :) Would have loved to fish from the deck because we definitely saw fish actively jumping throughout the day!
The hot tub was a bit small for 4 adults, but we usually just used it two at a time so that was not an issue for us.
Some other reviews mentioned spiders- this house is in the woods and on the river so you have to expect this- but the ones we saw were harmless daddy long legs type spiders and they stayed up by the ceilings in the corners of the rooms.
We didn't have any issues come up during our stay, but Bonnie was very helpful before we arrived!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again!
Great location, great view and spacious
Property had a lake in the back, we enjoyed the walk ways and the view it’s a nice place to spend with family and friends.
Helen,a German style town, is the main draw to this area. For summer, tubing in the Chattahoochee River is the ultimate, cheap cool activity. As fall rolls around, it is Octoberfest, from late September until first of November. There are numerous German restaurants and bars and the Festhall with nightly activities at that time.
For outside enthusiasts there is the Appalachian Trail and other hikes , mountain biking trails at Unicoi, and the 6Gap Century the last Sunday in September, starting in Dahlonega; another delightful mountain town to visit as well. The fall also bring the leaf peepers who enjoy the many rural roads to see the colorful season change. Of course the area is a big draw for Motorcycle riders for the thrill of curves and downhill. Winter sometimes brings snow, which is a lovely way to experience the mountains as well.
