We are 40 somethings who live full time in Hood River, Oregon. We are self employed and run a small video production company and run kids adventure camps in the Columbia Gorge. When we aren't working we take our daughter to the beach where we unwind, surf and eat cinnamon buns at Bread and Ocean. We feel fortunate to live and vacation in such beautiful places. While in Hood River we grow our own food, play in the woods and do what we can to live a simpler life.

Why Owner chose Nehalem
We had a dream to own a log cabin one day. When we moved to Oregon the log cabin dream turned into a tree house dream which turned into a yurt on the Oregon coast dream. We didn't plan on buying a house but when we saw our cabin we knew this was the place for us. It was a log cabin, treehouse, yurt all in one! We love the relaxed environment of the Manzanita area and prefer it to the more touristy areas on the coast.
What makes this Cabin unique
We enjoy cooking big breakfasts in the cozy main room and taking morning runs on the Alder Creek Farm trail. Other mornings we'll go to Bread and Ocean for a tasty morning treat and head to Neahkanie Mountain to see what kind of mood the ocean is in. We love day trips down to Oswald West Park where we haul our daughter, our surfboards and snacks for a day at the beach. Oswald is our favorite beach to enjoy with our family. In the evenings we enjoy a drink on the deck at the house and cuddle in front of the fire while we play games and read. We leave the cabin fully restored, rested and grateful.

We are older ladies, loved the cabin, so unique. Wonderful beds, nice locations, upstairs seating a bit difficult for older bodies. Overall, a lovely place.
Felt so welcome here, and it was the perfect distance from everything I had planned to do on the Oregon Coast! Beautiful house and very accommodating. Thank you!
Great cabin - loved the top level so much with the fireplace.
Nice place and great location
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was spacious, had a nice kitchen, and lots of natural light. The location was great--next to Manzanita and close to other beautiful beaches and hikes. There was no wifi, however, which is the first I've experienced in a vacation rental, and cell service was spotty so access to the internet was challenging all weekend. I agree with others that there should have been some instructions on how to operate certain things; we had difficulty with the dvd player and wasn't able to get help until the morning we left. We also felt that there were a lot of duties we needed to do before leaving, which made it seem like more of a house sit than a vacation rental.
Fun environs in good location
Well-appointed cabin, conveniently located (though you'll need to hop in the car to explore the town, visit the beach, etc). Useful as a home base for exploring the Oregon Coast.
We loved the cabin! It was perfect for a getaway with a family. We enjoyed the large, but cozy space upstairs for hanging out together. It felt like we were in a tree house. It was a very unique and memorable stay. The location was great too. It was a very short drive to the cute town of Manzanita and to the state parks. We wish we could have stays longer! We would love to go back!
