About this property

Our Happy Place is our home away from home. With plenty of light, beautiful mountain views and an open and airy floor plan, Our Happy Place provides you the perfect place to relax with your friends and family in any season. Located inside the gates of Rumbling Bald at Lake Lure, this home is 1/2 mile from the beach, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts and resort pavilion. This tri-level home with 2,400 square feet has four bedrooms, three full baths and one half-bath and sleeps 12 comfortably. Relax on the screened porch, or sunbathe on the back deck with a view of Rumbling Bald!

Enter the front door to a large family room with huge sectional sofa and plenty of room for all of your guests to enjoy conversation or cuddle up next to the gas fireplace within view of the flat-screen Roku TV. The main floor includes the family room, kitchen, dining room, laundry room and half-bath, all featured within an open floor plan, and with plenty of windows to let in light!

Upstairs there are three bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom features two new queen Ashley Hybrid mattresses, a walk-in closet (with plenty of room for a pack-n-play, which is also provided), full bath with shower and separate vanity. The master bedroom also has Roku TV. The other two bedrooms upstairs each feature one new queen Ashley Hybrid mattress, and share a full hall bath with tub and shower.

Downstairs features a large bedroom with two new queen Ashley Hybrid mattresses, and an adjoining full bath with shower. This bedroom opens onto the back deck and into the playroom, which has a large Roku TV. Guests are welcome to bring a personal gaming system for use in this room.

Although we purchased the home in 2019, we have spent many summers vacationing at Rumbling Bald and it has become "Our Happy Place". It is our desire that it will become yours, too. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable or enjoyable, please let us know.

Perfect for our family.

The big, well equipped kitchen was a great feature. Everyone seems to eat something different and at different times so the kitchen was in constant use. We were very comfortable with the arrangement of the house. The privacy was appreciated by the teens and adults. We’d like to go again. Thx for your hospitality.

We are John and Kelly Hodge, from Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Lake Lure is our happy place. Our children, ages 24, 23 and 17, have grown up coming here in the summers and we wanted to purchase a home where they could bring their children one day. What we love most about our "new" home is the openness and light and sweet mountain breezes on the back porch.

Why they chose this property

We were very fortunate to receive a financial inheritance from Kelly's dear friends, Barbara and Willie Dekle (see the B & W on the bookshelf...) and wanted to pour that into a place where our family and others could spend time together, relax and unwind. The tri-level layout of the house reminds us of homes from our childhood that were warm and welcoming. Don't be misled by the outside, however. The inside is open and updated and bright and, well... happy!

What makes this property unique

Located inside the gates, Our Happy Place is a short distance from all the amenities of Rumbling Bald Resort, including the pools, lazy river, fitness center, putt putt and lakefront. As homeowners, it is our privilege to provide suggestions to you as to what to do, where to go, and what to eat! We highly recommend renting a boat from Rumbling Bald Resort, or Lake Lure Adventure Company so you can enjoy the beautiful mountain views from the lake. There is also much to do outside the resort, including hiking, wine tours, and zip-lining, all of which we are happy to recommend!
