About Roberta Woodmansee
I am from the Northwest, but have traveled extensively as I am an ex Pan Am stewardess. I enjoy sharing my part of the world with others and am happy to answer any questions you may have. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make your holiday a special one.
Roberta Woodmansee purchased this House in 2000
Why Roberta Woodmansee chose Browns Point
There is something about being on the water and watching the wildlife that is very calming. I love living here and find that when I am on the water my blood pressure seems to go down and I feel a sense of serenity.
What makes this House unique
The views from the house are spectacular. I especially like the kite surfers and the sail boat regatta on Wednesday night. Fine dining is just a short walk away. There is a great pub to meet locals and drink micro beers and an elegant restaurant that attracts people from Seattle and Tacoma

Great spot on Puget Sound
Beautiful view from Roberta's home at Browns Point near Tacoma Washington.
Everything was very comfortable and each room shared the view. Roberta made us feel very welcome.
Thanks Frank. Just wanted you and your wife, her brother and sister in law to know that I loved having you and would hope that you will think of this place if you have future trips here.
Great view/location, but lacking substance.
First and foremost, I must say that Roberta is a very responsive owner. Due to that fact, and the location of the property, I believe it does warrant the two star rating.
With that being said, our experience with accessing the property, and reviewing the interior, leaves a lot to be desired.
We arrived extremely late, and to access the property there is a thin walkway that runs along side of the main homes property line. This area is overgrown, and we even had to knock down spiderwebs to get to the stairs to access the property.
We were traveling for about a week, and had some pretty substantial luggage with us. The stairs are very steep, and there are a lot of them! Once inside the property, we noticed that there is no central heat or air. The blinds in the smaller bedroom were broken, and the twin beds were extremely uncomfortable. The only way to properly ventilate the upstairs/sleeping area, would be to put one of the two provided fans on the windowsill. The main bedroom bed was comfortable, but TV was resting on some type of wicker box, and was not even mounted to the wall.
The carpet on the stairs taking you to the main living area, appear to have been tacked down with a staple gun, and not properly fastened with any type of tack strips. The patio had not been refinished in a while, and actually had maintenance/cleaning supplies still left over when we woke in the morning. Overall, the home doesn’t warrant the nightly rate. It has a lot of potential, but definitely need some attention, and TLC.
The most concerning portion of my review, is the fact that we arrived after midnight, and checked out before noon. We were traveling with my parents, who are a little older, but still fairly mobile. The stairs proved to be too much for them, so we opted to leave. Prior to my departure, I asked Roberta about a refund/adjustment on the charges, and she told me not to worry about it and to enjoy our time in Seattle.
With that being said, we headed off to Seattle and booked a hotel close to downtown, so we could finish off the rest of our trip. Roberta and I have exchanged text messages regarding the refund of charges, but no action has taken place as of yet. We are now about a month past our trip, and I have still been charged the full price of the trip, for only a 12 hour stay. I understand that I am not entitled to the full refund, but have not even been offered half.
I am not surprised by this review. The threat of a bad review if things do not work out in the way the guest wishes is always present. After a one night stay the guest informed me that they would love to stay and enjoy the" lovely" house, but the stairs were too much for the mother. He said he had not read the whole listing about the stairs, and I said I would do all possible to find a replacement guest and not to worry. I immediately put 3 ads out hoping to find a last minute guest. Unfortunately no one responded to my ads. I felt very badly about this, but unlike a hotel vacation rentals cannot recover from this kind of cancellation.
Roberta is such a sweetheart!!! We had a blast, location perfect!
Thanks Celine. Loved having you and your husband. Come back again!
Great location, needs some work
Pros: beautiful views, quiet neighborhood, clean. Good quality linens. Good communication. Nice outdoor deck. Fine if you just want a place to sleep.
Cons: kitchen not adequate for real cooking, fine for a quick breakfast. Beds too soft for our taste. Multiple steep narrow stairs, definitely not for bad knees. Bathrooms okay but could use an update. Just seems a bit tired overall.
In response to Joyce's comments. I have had a number of guests who have entertained family and friends telling me the kitchen had everything they needed. I also live above the house so if a guests needs any additional kitchen supplies I can provide them.
The stairs can be challenging for the elderly or handicapped. Although her husband, daughter, and son in law had no problem and told me how much they loved the house.
Tired is a subjective description which I am not clear specifically what she is referring to. It is a seaside cottage not a $600 a night room at the Four Seasons so I guess it depends on ones expectations.
We never want to leave!!
We loved staying here and didn't want to leave!!!! The statement "fish from your kitchen window" is not a lie. Views are spectacular, rooms are spacious and very comfortable, everything we needed was there for us, and Roberta was is a fantastic host and was there for any questions we had. People who have difficulties with a lot of stairs will have difficulties getting to this space but other people will get their workout in with a fantastic view. If you want to be literally be right on the water, that is a small price to pay. We had a FANTASTIC TIME and will definitely be back!
The Sound of the waves were very relaxing
We all enjoyed ourselves. My daughter got married at the Brown’s Point Improvement Club three doors down so this worked out perfect for us. Roberta was very kind and accommodating to our party. We had everything we needed for our stay.
Thanks Diana! i really enjoyed you and your family. I would love to see more of you.
