About Maxine Stirk
I am a semi retired bit of everthing. I have worked with horses most of my life, mainly in National Hunt racing. My husband is a retired vet. I now dabble in breeding horses and teaching riding, plus writing for pleasure. I have 2 grandchildren who love buck House Farm and all the animals, as do the many children of family and friends who visit to enjoy the countryside and Floss the ancient springer spaniel who loves new visitors! I started the holiday lets in 2014 and really enjoy it (most of the time!). We have met some delightful and interesting guests and only a very few who we were glad to see the back of!
Maxine Stirk purchased this Lodge in 2006
Why Maxine Stirk chose Kirkby Malzeard
Buck House Farm is in a beautiful and unspoilt location. We have lived in the area all our long married life and brought our children up here. The farm is situated in its own little 'microcosm' and yet is not isolated in any way. At night you can hear the owls hooting and in the morning you can spot a heron by the river looking for fish. It is a bird lover's paradise.
What makes this Lodge unique
Rivers, fields, woods, real, unspoilt countryside. Stunningly beautiful and very accessible. A rural mini Eden.
smoking is strictly prohibited inside the caravan but you can smoke outside if you wish. 1 small well behaved dog will be considered by private arrangement for a £5 per night charge. Please leave the caravan as you wish to find it when you leave.

Very enjoyable and comfortable
Home from home
We had a lovely weekend in this comfortable new lodge in peaceful surroundings.
We went to Pately bridge, Masham & Fountains Abbey which is definitely worth a visit.
Our own little piece of the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside
The lodge is sat in its own grounds overlooked by the raised decking and the large lawn extends out to fields and trees from the ground level patio.
The only sound is nature going about its daily business as you soak up the tranquility of the surroundings. The lodge itself has everything you need to make the perfect stay, whatever you want to do and whatever the weather...you couldn't ask for more...
very elegantly worded. Love it!
come again and I will do you a deal.
Lovely relaxing stay
This Lodge has everything you need for a nice quiet relaxing stay. Really liked that it had its own grounds for our little dogs and enjoyed seeing the horses etc in the fields, Maxine was welcoming and available if needed anything.
Perfect place to get away from it all and lots to see in the area.
What an amazing place! The place is modern, comfortable and has everything you need. We just returned from 5 nights. Maxine was a wonderful host and Jenny the dog was her perfect sidekick! Lots of friendly animals around the property and we felt right at home. The weather was perfect when we were there and we had all our food outside on the decking or picnic table. Maxine gave us lots of advice for places to go. We'd recommend Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, Hackfall Woods and Flamingo Land. Also, Ripon and Masham were lovely for a walk around, shop and to have some food. Ripon is best to get your groceries. The lane down to the property is narrow and there are a few potholes to avoid. However, this didn't stop us having a fab few days away. Thanks. Liz, Mark and Ewan
Grandchildren loved it!
We had a lovely holiday and were made to feel very welcome. The chalet was beautiful and very comfortable, light and modern. The grandchildren loved the animals and ‘helped ‘ Maxine around the farm. Despite the weather we all had a great time.
We enjoyed having you use
And Thankyou so much for leaving the lodge immaculate. Much appreciated. I hope you can come again sometime.
Rat coming on a treat.!
Buck House Farm is situated in an AONB, and is just over a mile from the nearest village of Kirkby Malzeard. Kirkby has an excellent butcher with a wide variety of provisions, and a well stocked village shop.
You are midway between Masham and Ripon so less than 15 minutes from delightful market towns with good shops and restaurants. Fountains Abbey, a World Heritage site, is only 15 minutes drive.
