Why jillds940 chose Marlborough
This is our special holiday place that has been in the family for generations and is much loved and full of wonderful memories. We hope you all enjoy it as much as we do. If you are expecting a motel, this is not the place for you.
What makes this Chalet unique
Native bush, and an abundance of birds. You will wake up in the mornings to the beautiful sound of the native birds. Glow-worms and snapper fishing are just a few of the unexpected delights. If you have children it would be a real wonderland for them.

Great place to stay
Great property kids had a blast finding crabs and muscles on the beach on low tide, the wood pigeons in the trees in the morning we’re great
Wonderful, unique, and crazy
Set in native bush on a steep slope down to a private shingle beach, this is idyllic. It is not one property - you will need to use at least three different locations, joined by steep steps up and down the hillside. The best bedrooms (the ones with a toilet and shower) are in the chalet near the foot of the hill. The kitchen is in a shed on the middle level, up 38 steps, and the dining room is separate again, and another 20 metres away. There is another cabin with beds (but no toilet) higher up the hill, where yo will have to park, unless you have a 4x4. It is worth these inconveniences for the birds, access to the beach, and the feeling of true wilderness.
Jill was fantastic to deal with and has an amazing spot!Once we adjusted to the distances between all the buildings everyone had a wonderful time.I would not reccomend to anyone with toddlers, and there is really only 1 toilet so keep that in mind!We had issues with neighbouring dogs pooing on the track which wasnt ideal and not entirely private with other people walking the grounds
A recommended stay
We had a great four nights here - a lovely setting with native trees and birds, and comfortable accommodation. We loved spending on the beach and using the kayaks. You just need to be aware that it is spread out on a steep slope, so not suitable for very young children or people with back/leg/knee problems, as there is a lot of going up and down.
Lovely location, quiet, beautiful and quirky with the different levels for kitchen, sleeping and dining! Loved the wee dingy for fishing and swing on beach. Thank you
I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Come back again.
