Te Awanga Estate Apartment is situated above + at the back of our Cellar Door. It is a small + simple apartment, yet has great views! Experience the fabulous balcony views of surrounding coastal vineyards, beautiful farmland with Cape Kidnappers in the distance. Te Awanga is a coastal settlement with a vibe and chill factor all of its own, with beach walks and a point break around 1km from the apartment.
The apartment is ideally suited to two people - see below for more details. Cereal, milk, tea, freshly roasted local Hawthorne coffee is provided in the small yet perfectly formed kitchen complete with oven, microwave and fridge (for your delicious Hawke's Bay wines). BBQ available for use upon request. While the apartment is ideally for two people, a double pull out couch is an option for max of 2 children. We don't recommend this apartment for 2 couples as the living room houses the foldout couch, and you walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom.
Bottle of wine on arrival and free wine tasting in our Cellar Door during your stay. All day grazing is available at the Cellar Door, the deck downstairs is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the views with a glass of wine and a plate or two.
BBQ available on request for cooking on the balcony. Please request this at the time of booking. Please clean after use.
Please note this apartment is not suitable for infant, on the move babies/children as it has an open stairwell with no door to close it off. It also has steep stairs outside leading from the deck to the vineyard.
We are close to the beach, two great restaurants, including two other wineries, Cape Kidnappers and its international golf course. There are many good walks and cycle tracks nearby with excellent sea and river fishing, as well as local artisans and artists to visit in Te Awanga/Haumoana area. The Cape View Four Square convenience store is a quick 4-minute drive down the road, along with a fish and chip shop.
The apartment is an excellent base to visit the other attractions in Hawke's Bay as it is on the coast between Hastings and Napier- the Art Deco capital of the world - although once you settle into our apartment it may be quite hard to leave!
Please note that the apartment is situated on a working vineyard and because of this there are times of the year (mostly late February, March, early April) where keeping pesky birds off our precious crops becomes a priority. This is done with a bird scarer gas gun which goes off intermittently around the vineyard during the day, but never overnight. Please ask if you have any questions, but know that 99% of our guest have had no problems at all with this!
